Top Shot Season 2

I think it was a Sharps falling block similar to this one but I don't think the one they used had the double set triggers

Watched it today. It did have the double triggers.

BTW, my wife normally hates watching anything like this show, but when she saw the host is from one of her earlier Suvivor reality shows, and the fact I think she has a crush on the guy, she sat with me and watched the whole thing. :D :D :D

I know its early in the show but Im wanting to see Brian Zins win this one. Maybe cause hes the only bullseye shooter of the bunch but his resume is pretty impressive

Those are what I'm talking about. They were falling block, but loaded with paper cartridge, more commonly known as the Berdan Sharps, with production started in 1852, issued as model 1963 Sharps with the Berdan primer strip. When the breech was closed it would cut off the very end exposing the powder charge, and you still used a musket cap for ignition. Caliber was .52, and they were extreamly accurate, and the musket rifle was used as a sniper rifle. These are not to be confused with what was used in the show which was an 1872 cartridge firing Sharps.

So who wasn't surprised that Athena got the boot? She's awesome with a pistol with a red dot and huge comp but that doesn't do to much for you on this show. These historic weapons are all iron sights. It was no surprise that a tiny woman was at a disadvantage these heavy old guns. Heck Benjamin squared probably couldn't lift half those guns either.

I was kinda suprised how well most of those shooters did with a Colt Police Positve 38 special. Everyone know you cant hit squat with a revolver... and an old one like that to booot <_<

If she would have slowed down and worked the plan that elimination could have been a horse race.

What's the odds on Jay Lin making it past the 4th episode? I'd be first in line to beat him in his rack... with a bar of soap in a sock.

He's prolly not as bad as they make him out to be but I would be in on the soap in a sock thing thus far or maybe one of those tear the wasteband off the underwear wedgies.

It looked like most of them were shooting SA, they did that with the M29 in last weeks elimination as well.

I noticed that many of them opted to thumb rooster the DA guns too. It's frowned upon by many "experts" today as a safety issue...but that sear is made to do that for "fine shooting".

Did you notice that the girl who lost and got sent off the show tried to shoot the 38 in double action? I mean why if you don't have to? supposedly a 3 time world champ.

Big difference between an open gun with a red dot/1.75 lb. trigger and an antique revolver.

The pros are all very specialized, which is why they get beaten.

The results have more to do with luck and natural ability to pick something up quickly rather than the qualities that I would say make the "best" shooter. Just take it for what it is...entertainment. I'll probably quit watching when Maggie gets eliminated. :P
