I think it's about time that I upgraded my standard combat trigger to something a little more awesome. The main (essentially only) use for this gun is 3gun.

I've already gotten some great advice, and I'm leaning towards getting the JP trigger (from the MRPS of course) and cutting the hook off of my hammer.

I just wanted to know if you prefer a certain trigger/fire control group and why. I've heard great things about the JP, the timney's, geissele's etc.

Ive got a timney 3lb that is exactly what a match trigger should be no take up just a beautifully clean brake with a positive reset. It has zero problems with any ammo/primers that ive run through it. It is absolutely phenomenal. That being said I would also check out POF triggers they have an awsome single stage as well that is a little cheaper but still crazy clean. In fact I have heard that timney actually makes it for them. Not sure but its nice anyway. As far as the geissele triggers go they are hands down my favorite all around trigger the SSA that is. I have also ran their 3G trigger and its nice as well I just dont feel enough differance to chose it over the proven SSA platform. The big question is single stage or two stage. You cant go wrong with any of them

I love the JP triggers but I married the AR Gold. I had a Timmey in my Loki and was good. The Gieslle 3G trigger I the Stag 3G is good too. Try them a and see what feels best to you. Whatever you choose will become the measuring stick for future trigger choices so choose wisely.

JP is the gold standard and I have used them. Along with JARD, Timney and the GSG 3G. My current favorite is CMC Straight trigger. I love the strong reset and clean break.

It really is a personal choice.

All good advice. Can't really go wrong with anything mentioned here. Just like they said, personnel preference.

Hey guy's. I got a new Wylde Match Barrel and Bolt the other week from Loather Walther. When shooting some AR223 Ammo and some Hornady Superformance I have been getting lite strikes on the firing pin/primer. I have the JP 3.5 lb spring kit and it works flawlessly on my Grendel. Started comparing the firing pin protrusion and the Grendel head space is .135 compared to the 223/556@ .122.

Question is have you ever had to trim off some of the firing pin surface that hits the back of the bolt to let the firing pin protrude more? The gun fires fine with the heavier hammer spring but not the lighter hammer spring.

thanks

Do you have a lightened hammer or have you lightened yours by cutting off the hook?

If it fires fine with the heavier springs, then it's not a mechanical block because something is machined incorrectly.

Of what I've tried i really liked the Wilson combat. if at all possible try some different ones. 2 3G matches this weekend so might be able to try some.

My error by using the JP Enhanced Reliability Spring set with a full weight hammer. Read up about the difference and why you say to cut off the hook. Didn't realize and went back to the full power spring and issue resolved. Then went back to the CMMG trigger with the correct springs and it also worked. SO, looks like I'll stick with that for now but actually don't like the lock and click of there 2 stage. Tried a friends Geissele and it felt much smoother. Might go that way but trying to figure out the difference of single stage compared to 2 stage. I understand how they work but why would one be better than the other...

To me, putting a 2 stage in your run and gun rifle would be like putting a Glock trigger in your 2011.

New to 3-Gun (I am used to having to use whatever mil-spec trigger is issues to me) and just put a Giessele SSA-E in my 3-gun rifle. Nice and fast when you need it, two stage (new to me) is nice when shooting distance. My two cents.

I run a Giessele SD3G and love it. Easy to install and has a great feel. I think we're going to try a hyperfire in the new one we're building for my wife but even there she likes the Giessele.

An older thread but I have a Geissele SD-3G. Love it. Light pull, awesome break and short reset. Don't have experience with the others mentioned.

There aren't many reviews on Hiperfire (they hyperfire website doesn't work, it's Hiper now) and after watch their video on youtube I'm not sure what to think about it. I'll get the SD-C for my Colt LE6920
