The 2013 Assault Weapons Ban Thread

The second amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America states:

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Boys and girls, I don't see a dammed thing in that wording that says I have to give up elephant dung!
The statement has been backed up by the Supreme Court of the United States of America in recent times.

Anybody willing to compromise on our Constitutional rights really needs to think where this will lead.
30 round mags don't kill, barrel shrouds and bayonet lugs don't kill.
We already have more laws on our books than we need an these proposed rules won't make a dammed bit of difference.
We already had the Clinton era bans on high cap mags. Did that stop any mass shootings? Hell no it didn't. The murder rate in this country has gone DOWN since the Clinton ban ended.
Do NOT GIVE UP YOUR RIGHTS!!

Dear Representative or Senator,

I am writing to you today to ask that you please defeat any and all legislation that infringes on the right of the people to keep and bear arms. My concerns include magazine bans or limitations on their capacity or sale, gun bans or re-classification to bring them under NFA rules. All of these are being proposed by Senator Feinstein and others and I ask you to stop these or any versions thereof. New laws (as with all laws) will only affect the law abiding; it is the criminal that must be stopped.

We currently have over 20,000 laws on the books regulating firearms. More gun laws will not make anyone safer. Criminals, by definition of the term “criminal”, do not obey laws. Banning guns or magazines has not proven to reduce crime nor improve our collective safety. “Gun-Free” zones have become free killing zones. Americans are guaranteed the right to keep and bear arms. The legislation proffered by Senator Feinstein and others directly infringes on these rights and endangers your constituents.

Please, I ask again that you work to defeat any effort or legislation or executive order that in any way: bans any firearm or magazine, places any restriction on magazine capacity, makes any attempt to reclassify any firearm to bring it under NFA rules, moves to register firearms owners or creates any legislation that limits our right to self-determination and defense of ourselves and our loved ones.

Pat - thanks for the letter.

Poop is right about Oklahoma officials won't vote for anything but they might need to be reminded of the "compromises" we have been talking about here, and to not give up any more of our rights. Please everyone do your part on this by contacting officials, joining or upgrading your membership to the NRA, or what eaver it is you can to make a difference.
 
I've just started a Word doc with letter examples that I've found in various places on the internet. There are some good ones of late. And Mr. Kelley yours just made the "list". :good:

But yet they say the AR/AK platforms have no sporting use, which means hunting.
I'm sure you have all seen the 7 deer I've killed using a modern self loader.

If not, I'll post them so you can share with your person in congress.

I guess in the 2nd Amendment, I skip right to "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed and take too lightly "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State" It doesn't look like the well regulated Militia is worried about deer population!!!

There have been a lot of great posts on these last two pages, not that the first 3 are any less, but our main focus should be no compromise, if they want to take them, let them do it now and lets find out what happens!!! Not piece by piece is which will happen if we give in, every gun owner has skin in this game, from the bolt action deer hunter to the 3-gunner, that cannot be expressed enough.

Pat, I haven't cussed on any of these boards either, and you won't find me throwing around such words anywhere else, but these days, believe me, there on the tip of my tongue.
 
Well, we have been hosed again. The goons in Washington voted for MORE taxes and MORE(4 Trillion deficit increase over 10 years) spending last night in the wee hours so those of us that make the money they spend wouldn't see. If you think an infringement on our 2nd amendment rights won't pass,think again. I urge you all to light up the switchboards in DC and choke their mailboxes letting them know what you think. As for me, It is early so I am off to dig "a garden and do some planting" before those bozos in Washington wake up. God help us. And remember in November I was tell ing y'all to buy all the guns and ammo you could afford. :triniti:
