Start Signal

... Occasionally I see an RO that seems to be trying to trick the shooter or go out of his way to make things difficult.

...there is a guy that will give the "standby" then wait for an unreasonably long time to give the start signal.

1-4 seconds is the rule, not a suggestion.
Less than 1 second; stand down and ask for a restart.
More than 4 secs; stand down and ask for a restart
(BTW, sometime in practice, have a buddy start you at 4 secs...its a looong time)

If you are creeping or if you false start, you'll get a restart.
Guys that leeeeeaaaan into their start will draw a creeping call...experienced RO's will just let them keep leaning till they false start.
There are a few RO's that try to trick you into a false start just to screw with you...they flinch or move just before they hit the beeper. These guys are bastards..
Good RO's will vary their start time. The beep is suppose to be a surprise (beep...yay I get to shoot stuff now!)
