Shopping around stripped lowers

I have a PSA polymer lower (sitting in the safe} complete, that actually has a better trigger than some of the more expensive lowers. (not talking about high end lowers)
Its crisp, no over travel, but probably runs in the 6lb range. Haven't put the trigger scale on it yet.
Comparing mil spec triggers is like trying to pick the hottest chick at fat camp. Lol!

PSA has blems for $99 but they sell out quickly. I bo 6 from brownell for $90 in Jan. Got them in last month

Awesome, I also notticed Aero has one for reasonably priced as well, is the lower the only thing that has to be FFL'd?
Yes. If you order an upper, it can be shipped right to your door.

Don't forget about the gun show loophole. If you buy anything from anyone there you don't have to do a background check.

I bought a tank and a flamethrower at the last one. It was a really big loophole.

While aero is a great receiver I will not buy from them again. They had this big pitch that they would not raise their prices ($89) and told everyone they would release some. An hour before the opened their site up they bumped the price to 150, then up to 200. I understand that it's capitalism, but that's a shady business practice. Ok, end of my rant.

The do make really nice uppers and lowers.

I bought a Stag striped lower at my LGS for $150. They have a reputation for not gouging, so I figured it was a fair price. Never really looked around, because I wanted a Stag.

I have not done business with them.
I have heard nothing but good reports about their business, so they must be good to go.

Tell em BoomerShooter sent ya.

I've bought a stripped lower, lpk, butt stock and other AR parts from them. Prices were reasonable then. Haven't been in the store since all the craziness hit though. Owner is a good guy and very helpful.

Awesome, I will check them out next month when I am ready to start buying. Also, on the subject of lower parts kits, do folks allow you to customize the kits? Like lets say I wanted magpul furniture, and a certain type of selector/safety, but a middle of the road trigger, etc? I have notticed a lot of lower kits with nicer furniture often have top of the line triggers and cost quite a bit, but the ones with ok triggers have cheap furniture. Do some places allow complete piece milling of the parts?

Oh and wooohoo! 50th post!

Check palmetto state armory, they have all kinds of combinations including kits it hour a trigger so you can pick out whichever one you want.

So what is everyones thougts on pricing right now? I know one gentleman said prices will go down, and a few more have said we have hit the plateau. Do you guys think prices might go down by this summer? I have some money to spend now, but should I keep saving?

I think parts like stripped upper and stripped lowers and your basic LPK's will go down. High quality parts like the JP barrels, triggers and your higher end carbon fiver hand guards never went up, so they will stay the same. I'd spend money on pieces I can find in stock, that are at their normal prices and wait for the crazy priced stuff to come back down.

I hope that since everybody and their brother now owns ten thousand rounds of ammo and five of every firearm that might be banned things slow way down and get right again.

It took about 6 to 9 months after the 2008 election for stuff to get back to normal. Then the prices bottomed back out for a while. I was getting first run lowers for what poly lowers were costing. This one will take a little longer to recover from but prices on the guns will get back to where it was before. Then, you might see (I hope not) a few of the companies that expanded to meet the demand fold. It happened to Anvil Arms, Charles Daily Defense, and a few others.

Now ammo is another a different issue all together. While supply trickled back in, the prices didn't quite return to the pre 2008 election but they got close. I think a brick of 22 ammo was up a buck or 2. But I think the metal market had more to do with these price increases than anything.

Plan out what you want and start shopping. The sky isn't falling but prices should.
Oh, and support your local gun shops and forum supporting members, they will thank you.
