Shopping around stripped lowers

Thanks, I just plan on getting mostly standard type parts, as I won't have the money for anything super fancy if I want to have it ready by the end of the year. Now on tubes, are all tubes standard length? I keep hearing carbine length and standard, and I was under the impression that it was the barrel that made it carbine length. I have freakishly long arms and will probably want an 18" barrel, so do I need to be on the look out for a particular buffer tube and stock?

I think it is more a matter of pairing the correct parts, i.e. carbine length spring, tube and buffer. vs. standard length parts. It really comes down to feel and do you want a collapsible stock. However, I would suggest if you go rifle length on the gas system you may like the standard tube better. JMHO.
