in case anyone was wondering about this, I'm on the last 100 or so of the flat point and I ordered a sample pack of the round-nose, lube-groove-less, 147gr Blue Bullets.

I got to mess with them tonight. I loaded 10, and there was no shaving of the coating. It's a small sample size and I was being careful, so the real test will be when I load a couple hundred at a quick clip, but I am encouraged. Whoever suggested that the lube groove might be the problem may have been onto something.

I also noticed that the coating would gouge in two places at the very bottom when loaded deeper than 1.55" or so, presumably because the bullet hits the taper in the jacket. I'm loading close to max OAL right now so that should be fine.
