We are changing the USPSA match date here at ATA. Steel Challenge will remain on the 2nd Saturday (this Saturday) as always, and will be a standalone match. Continue to expect 6 stages of Steel Challenge courses of fire, and possibly some side matches like the Pro Am or Action Rimfire stages, let us know if this interests anyone.

Due to conflicts that have been recently made to the scheduling of USPSA matches on the 2nd weekend, Rick Honey and I have decided to move our monthly USPSA match to the 4th SUNDAY of the month. This will provide an opportunity for many of us to get back to shooting steel where before we were tied up with running the USPSA match. Rick has been running the matches here at ATA for almost a year now and has been providing great stages with lots of movement and high round counts. We will be setting up the USPSA match on the Saturday before the match so more people can get involved with the stage design and setup. So if you have any ideas for a great stage let us know or show up and help set it up. Help is always appreciated and the setup crew shoots for free.

We will continue to run our IDPA match on the 3rd Saturday. I have been getting some great feedback about out IDPA matches and our stage design. Jeremy Harrison has agreed to be the coordinator for the match and between the 2 of us we will continue to provide the same great stages. Help is always appreciated and as with the other matches the setup crew shoots for free.

We have a lot of changes taking place her at ATA, we are revamping our website, providing more training opportunities and continuing to develop the range to provide more opportunities. We are looking at several major matches next year so stay in touch to find out when and where.

What are the conflicts with the uspsa matches?
Isn't second saturday Poncs City USPSA?

I read it as theyr USPSA on 2nd Saturday interfered with shooting steel somewhere. You got me. I've never been to ATA.

They're match has always been on the same day as ponca's, maybe it was just to free up steel challenge. As the only other match that weekend is on Sunday.

I saw an email or something. Its a work conflict for him as he was having to take off work Friday afternoon to set the stages. The 4th Sunday will be fine. Rick puts on a good match at ATA.

Two USPSA matches on Saturday and two matches on Sunday I think was two much. I also think having two matches on the same weekend within twenty-five miles of each it hurts both matches.(just my opinion)

And taking a new position with my company, I don't have the time to take off Friday afternoon any more. I so moved the match to the 3rd Sunday so set up will be easier and I can do more run and gun stages with move moving targets.

Also I am looking at doing a shotgun only match maybe on the 1st Sunday or the 2nd Sunday of the month just starting to kick this around.

I hope this helps out why the match was moved.

Thanks and I hope to see you on the range.

3rd or 4th sunday, just to clarify?

It takes right at 45 minutes to get to ata from the north end of owasso, which is about 40 miles, give or take a few.

Sundays work better for my schedule anyways due to working alternate saturdays. Now I can get in at least 2 matches a month.

Hope you and Robert support the ussa match and come out to shoot this weekend.

When it comes to USPSA stage design, Honey is on the money! Never shot a match out there that was boring or predictable.

However, the Steel Challenge set up seems to lack creativity from month to month.... Speaking of which, what time does it start Sat? Is it still 10:00? It's been a while for me.

And if I change them I get in trouble with the shooters who want the steel challenge stages.

So maybe one month I throw in some new ones.

I was just joking Rick. I'm one of those shooters who would complain if the stop plate looked a foot off 😊. See ya Sat!

I see so now I am going to move them before you shoot.

See Sat.
