OKCGC Membership

You still have actual paper checks that you write a sum on and sign?
Yes, we are still techno idiots in this country compared to yours. We still have to put coins in a soda dispenser.

The internet and phone providers rob us for more money every year in their quest to become the giants in the industry.

They kept us at DOS IOS for years until they could figure out how to charge for IOS 3, then raped the country for all the next versions.

Norway has had a version of apple/google pay for many years if I've read right.

No, not in the sense that you can pay with your phone like touching a sensor with it, that's just starting to arrive now. But I was born in 1973 and have never owned a check book as I wasn't old enough in the 80s when they were last used. I remember my uncle was ridiculed for still having a check book sometime into the 90s. and then a couple years later the banks stopped supporting the use of checks all together.

So this may sound strange but what pay methods are used instead of checks?
Just debit cards or are there other methods used there as well.
It's strange to me that the banks stopped supporting the use of checks.

I write maybe a handful of checks per year at the most.
The only time I write a check is when I have to pay something like this membership (in the thread topic) where a check is the only option.
I very rarely carry cash, I think the only time I do have cash is to pay a match fee.
I pretty much use a card for 99% of all my financial transactions.
I have a friend (cough...Hoover...cough) who always uses cash, for everything.......****in' caveman....lol

Ouch! I use my credit card hotel points for free stays at matches. I haven't seen a dollar bill in years. In fact I think it was...never mind.

Debit cards and internet bank, just log on and pay whoever you want to pay, takes 2 minutes.
They stopped supporting checks because they weren't needed I guess. Like I said, I've never used one.

I want to say mine (with work day credit) was $129.00.

I think someone in the "other" thread about sales tax, stated that the 4.5% was applied to the $200 ($200 x 1.045 =$209.00 - $80 = $129.00
. That someone was me.

There aren't many gun clubs in the country that compare to OKC gun club. Most are pretty shitty actually.

It's a benchrest range that goes to 300 yards.

My dad was about 15 years ago, pretty cool folks there but at the time there wasn't hardly anything as far as a facility. Pretty much a 200 yard range if I remember right. As far as memberships, it was cheap but you had to know someone, and then be voted in.

Edit: sorry Mitch, didn't see you had addressed this already.

ok thanks guys. I found it on google maps and it is farther from my house than the okcgc which kills it. I also found some older threads that discussed it and Its not what im looking for. One of the things I decided I must do this year is to either join up a club or invest in some better targets and what not at my grandpas place in hinton.

I hate to chime in because responses can be mistaken as volunteering (I'm not) but since Pinto already opened the door, I will.

I can't imagine any software package that doesn't allow online payments and also address the work day credit issue (i.e. promo code). I'm the Director for the Oklahoma Society of Land Surveyors www.osls.org and I actually use one that does both. My life was exponentially improved when we started doing online membership renewals

Phillip, do you know what software they have looked at in the past?
Phillip, does the club actually use a software system? I'm pretty sure Quicken or Quickbooks would handle this with flying colors. Even an Access database would be pretty easy to get going.

And another question for the board, is a check the only form of payment they'll take? No money orders? *scratches head*

I see where OKCGC is charging sales tax for memberships.

Are match fee's being taxed separately? Or does the sales tax not apply to match fees?

I ain't got a clue Dennis, but it's confirmed they are collecting some sales tax that's figured off of the dues. I think the targets and other expendables used at matches factor into the equation somehow.

You will need regular practice. You should compete ASAP and see if it is for you.

I live 45 minutes away (one way) from OKCGC and it is worth every mile. I live close to Tri City but it is worth the drive. If you like to shoot, you can't beat OKCGC. I actually like fewer members so I should tell you it sucks! Great people and great facilities.
