NRA Firearms Insurance

Sorry to resurrect this zombie...but I just put in an application for collect insure. Before I pay for the insurance, have you guys that purchased the insurance been happy? It's about 2/3s of the cost of the NRA insurance.

Collect insure is who I'm with now, as I went with another company on my home from what I had and while their homeowners policy was cheaper, they were just silly on the cost of the rider.

There are some caveats but they seem to be the best route, especially for the price. The main caveat is that they only insure "COLLECTABLES". So your firearms are going to be covered, but reloading equipment, components, belts, holsters, etc. aren't. I'm hoping my homeowners will cover that stuff. Luckily I haven't had to file a claim.

Some Insurance company define COLLECTABLES as firearms that are stored in Gun Safe and never Shot.

Only way to know for sure is if you get robbed and have to collect. Cheap insurance is great if you never need it.

I'll let a little cat out of the bag..I am on vacation and just realized that Jesse is on vacation as well. I sent him a pm to follow up on something I had mentioned to him earlier this year. ..
I have been a financial advisor and an insurance agent since 2001. I just added the property license to my insurance license. I am now an agent for collect insure and am planning on becoming a boomer shooter sponsor if they'll have me when I get back in town.
I won't go into any details about policies etc until we are able to get the finer details in order..but I can say this...I have written my own policy before I left town and I am very excited about the news I hope to share soon.

I just have mine covered through State Farm with my renters policy. The limits were $2K originally, but I spoke to the agent and we upped that quite a bit since I have individual guns worth more than that once you count the gallss that's on them. All I had to do was give her values of each gun. Make sure you read the fine print in your policy as it may require you to have and use a safe for your guns if they are over a certain value.

PM coming Jason. Your not as local to me as you once were but is rather go through someone I know.

That's exactly why I went with my local State Farm agent. So I would have someone local to deal with who can go to bat for me if anything happens. When the 04 hurricanes hit FL wemade a claim and the insurance company baulked at the price to replace what we had. My agent stuck up for us and got us everything we asked for. Not only that, by stacking policies, I got a multi policy discount and the renters coverage with the extra firearms rider cost us $5 more a month.

Sounds good guys..I'll get busy as soon as I get back in town.
Safes are not required. Serial numbers are not required unless the individual gun is valued at 5k or more. I'll be able offer commercial policies as well.
More details a new thread and a new boomer shooter sponsor coming soon
