It seems OSU is looking at/developing a new system called Oversite. For all I know it may already in place. Designed for "soft targets" like sporting events, parades, etc.

It can detect firearms going off, chemicals, and neuclear threats. computers reveal locations, etc, on a real time map.

Big Brother, or a usefull tool?

If used in the advertised venues... Useful. That being said, leave it to uncle sugar to figure out a way to use it in an envasive manner...

ive heard of the technology before. they use it in urban enviroments with lots of gang violence usually supposedly lets the police know about a shooting before 911 can be called. last i knew gang violence wasnt a big problem in stilly. maybe they are wanting to develop their own to sell it? but i doubt it
