For a 1911, shoot in Single Stack or L10.
What caliber is it?

Shoot Single Stack obviously in Major. You will need a few mags and a good holster and pouches. I know a good place to get the gear if you don't have any.

1911's aren't allowed in production. SS or Lim-10 is where you want to be. You'll want 5, 10 rounders or 6, 8 rounders. Its a lot of fun, come and shoot.

agree with everything above... my advice is to jump in ASAP, you learn so much just from doing a match and everyone is very helpful.. people will put off doing a match because they want to be "ready", just jump in and do it!! all you need is gun, holster and mag pouches... and you can usually borrow mag pouches if you don't have any for your first match..

also register with USPSA that way your matches will count towards getting classified.

You can come shoot the match at heartland and not have to worry about a bunch of rukes and confusing scoring or about being cold. It's a great starter match!

I have holster and mag pouches and mags i have shot steel challenge before. i need to fine some good 10rd mags any reccomandations? i broke a mag at the multi gun at ussa last weekend so i need some more good ones. Thanks for all the help guys! ill head on over and look into getting registered. I may be trying to meet up with some of you at the next match in the tulsa area if you all dont mind. thanks again guys!

yes, I do sell them but don't have any at the moment.
I can get them for you though with my order & save you the shipping & maybe a little $
If you PM me & tell me what you need, I can add it to my order.

Join USPSA, then come to H&H at 5:30 on 2-12 for a classifier match. I'd shoot that pistol in Single Stack or Limited 10. You can get your classification in 1 match. We are also having the state single stack match there in March.

If you have a gun with high capacity mags, I would go limited. Even if it is 9mm and you are shooting limited minor. You will be able to worry more about stage breakdown, rather than trying to count rounds and do 3-5 mag changes per stage. Once you are more comfortable with shooting matches, jump back into SS or Limited 10 with your 1911.
