The Honorable Dianne Feinstein has announced the details of her proposed legislation:

Translation:
- Any semiauto that can take any magazine AND has ONE of the following is an assault weapon: pistol grip, adjustable stock. It is unclear whether every single semiauto handgun in the country would be included.
- Assault weapons treated like NFA items (machine guns, suppressors, short barreled rifles, etc). NOTE: REGISTRATION is a prerequisite for CONFISCATION.
- Standard capacity mags = BANNED. Yes, this affects every Glock, M&P, Beretta, etc concealed carry gun.
If you're a "fudd" and think, "Oh, well, they won't ever come after my shotgun!" you're an idiot. Just wait until some lunatic or convicted felon blows away a bunch of innocents with a pump shotgun and you're F'd too. In fact, the ATF could rule any 12 gauge shotgun "unsuitable for sporting purposes" and call it an NFA item Destructive Device tomorrow. I'm sorry to be rude but you need a reality check if you think the antis will be happy to stop after the black rifles.
If you're a "fudd" and think, "Oh, well, they won't ever come after my deer rifle!" you're an idiot. Just wait until another whackjob uses a 30-30 to kill a cop (ANY rifle round including 30-30 will punch through soft police vest body armor) or uses a scoped "sniper rifle" to murder someone. And, after the next lunatic commits a crime with a semiauto, we'll see a crackdown on those (it will be easy once they're all registered) and movement of the other action types onto the registry. The desired end state for these people is no guns in civilian hands: look at Britain, Australia, etc.

If you are surfing this board, and you're a gun owner, you need to get involved immediately. Send a letter to your US Senators and Congressman immediately, even if you are not an eloquent writer. Send letters to Harry Reid and John Boehner for good measure. Lobby your state-level representatives and Gov Haley and let them know that this is unacceptable and you expect SC to pursue solutions that might actually work, such as reducing gun free zones or improving mental health care or ensuring mental health records are reported to NICS. Send money to NRA. Send money to SAF. Engage on social media with voters, friends, and family. Get friends and coworkers to start writing letters too. Make it easy for them with pre-stamped and pre-addressed post cards. Take a new shooter to the range for the first time.
Make it clear that even a "compromise" watered down version of this bill is unacceptable.

Don't talk to us about how you're going to run off to the hills, how "if its time to bury 'em its time to dig 'em up," and how you're going to refuse to enter the registry if you can't even be bothered to send a three minute email to your elected representatives, scrape together twenty bucks to send to a pro-2A organization, or lack the courage to attempt to persuade your friends and associates in the real world. Those things are easy. If everyone who has bought a semiauto firearm or standard capacity magazine since 1994 wrote their representatives, donated the cost of a box of ammo or two, and took a new person shooting, this nonsense would not go much further.
