NEW 3Gun Nation Trailer!

What are the prop guns for then?

Kalani gamed the elephant dung out of that stage

The easy buttons were awesome! Each stage started with a prop gun. Stage 1 - FNH 5.7, Stage 2, Double Star Prototype 3 Gun Rifle, Stage 3 - Ruger SR9C, Stage 4 - Samson Supresses Rifle, Stage 5 - Stag Arms 3G Rifle. Each shooter started at low ready with the prop guns. The scorekeeper gave the shooter a false beep with a secondary timer. The shooter then shot the 6-8 rounds with the prop gun. The prop gun was then grounded slowly and safely no need to rush. Once the shooter composed himself and sometimes even repositioned themselves they hit the Easy Button which was wired into the real timer in the RO's hand. The RO then unhooked the Easy button cable and followed the shooter. It was by far the best and as far as I'm concerned now the only way to run a prop gun in a match. The prop gun targets weren't scored so the shooter could hose them and have some fun or shoot slow and get a little practice in the sights before they shot their own guns. Check out the video of Kalani's cool ass gaming the Easy Button on stage 3. He actually almost laid down on his shotgun do it would be in his hand and shoulder immediately after hitting the East Button with his elbow. He finished second on that stage beating my best run of the match by almost 2 seconds. Half of that time he got on me was finding the best way to start the stage. Kudos to him for doing it. Surprisingly nobody else tried it in our squad since he shot 3rd right behind myself. I know I would have been all over the technique.

Sponsors pay big $ to get pro phooters shooting their guns on TV. It's all a money game!

None of us flew to Florida to shoot somebody elses guns. It's never fun shooting prop guns on the clock because all you are worried about is your run on the stage. I couldn't tell you what sights or how much recoil anyoif those guns had. It was something I had to do to get to the match shooting. Prop guns never help anyone's score in a match all they can do is hurt someone's score by messing up their game plan.

If I built guns and wanted the competitors to check out my new widget I wouldn't send a prop gun to shoot in a match, ever. I'd send a guy with guns and ammo to the match to set up a side shoot so at lunch break or after the shooting was over for the day or between stages competitors could come handle and shoot my stuff in a relaxed environment. The big ProAm 3 him championship did exactly this and it was awesome! A bunch of the vendors actually had dude matches with their guns were competitors paid $5-25 to try to win the gun. The money was usually donated to some firearm related chairyyZ

Here is another cool video showing the final stage of the match and the big PGA style scoreboard.

So the prop guns are just for a photo op? Then when the "real" clock starts, you use your own guns?

I thought the shoot-offs last year were all done with vendors guns

At the shoot offs last year its all prop guns. Different rounds used different pistols. Then the next round used different rifles and pistols. It must have been tough to get in a groove which is why I always made sure I finshed a few spots out of the shoot offs. I don't want that headache! :sarcastichand:

I haven't heard how the shoot offs next weekend in Texas or at the ProAm will be handled. Competitors would love to shoot their own guns! This year it would definitely be possble too since only Tac Optics is recognized. So everybody has the same gear. If your guns and gear breaks its on you and your sponsors not the prop gun sponsor.

what were your thoughts on the new targets?

I was really pleasantly suprised by the new targets. They are a little difficult to pickup your pistol sights on, but just takes a little adjusting. They are GREAT for visibility. The RO's where checking hits from 20 yards away. They also tape alot easier than I expected them to. But probably the best quality though, is that they are plastic. When the monsoon rain came, we werent bagging targets, we just waited for it to stop and went right back to work.

How come so many shooters did not have safety glasses on? Do you not need to wear them in a 3 gun match?

Um ya, about those shades...i think my grandpa has a pair. just sayin...

The pattern that your shirts you wear now were in vogue in the 60's. Experts say to never throw your clothes away, as they will always come back into fashion. :D
Ever notice how the hollywood babes are wearing hairstyles from the 20's?

My old guns will rock again!!! :D
