That video is why I detest fudds. Fudd = Tory.

ETA: For those unfamiliar with how gun control in the UK went down... The folks in the video talk about how their gun community was divided. Several folks in the video said something like, "Oh, the shotgunners and collectors never thought they'd come for THOSE guns!"

They did come for all of those guns, eventually.

The brits started with restrictions on some pistols in 1902, then licenses/registration for all rifled barreled weapons in 1920, then bans on machine guns on other similar weapons and licenses for shotguns too in 1937, then licenses/registration for the hunting shotguns in 1968, then bans of the semiautos and pumps in 1988, then complete bans on handguns in 1997, and recently air rifles and paintball guns in 2006. All along the way many UK hunters and sportsmen sat out the fight and said, "Well, I've got mine, they won't come for MY shotgun." Some of them as the video now shows regret that.

Any US gunowner who thinks, "Oh, well, they'll let me keep my nice shotgun or 30-30 deer rifle or .22 LR! I trust Sen Feinstein when she tells me she respects my hunting tradition! I don't care about those nasty icky magazines or semiautos!" is not paying attention to how it went down in the UK and isn't listening to what the folks in the video said. Nobody gets thrown out of the sled to slow down the wolves.

PS -- Looks like those UK/Aussie gun owners did give up, too. They turned in their guns and are now very sad and they appear to still be living as subjects. The one guy flipping through a book of pictures of his now destroyed revolver collection comes to mind. "Not giving up" means being prepared to move to a free state/nation that allows citizens to own firearms, it means quiet non-compliance (Canada had around 40% non-compliance with their long gun registry), it means being willing to go to jail if you peacefully and publicly refuse to submit (a la Gandhi, MLK, etc)... and we'll leave it there. If a BS law gets passed and you comply with it when there are other options (especially peaceful options, like moving) then yeah, you're giving up.

Anyone that supports "sensible gun laws" is the enemy. If you can't understand why a felon should be allowed to own the same guns as DEVGRU then you're part of the problem.

WTF???
There are plenty of felons that should NOT own guns, are you saying they should?
I guess I'm part of the problem and I can't wait for the explanation.

hell, i dont know what devgru is.

felons are not allowed to have guns cause felons are what ya call recidivists.

80 % of crime is done by 20% repeat offenders.

If they are dangerous then why are they not in prison?
If someone can't be trusted with a gun then why are they trusted with explosives, knives and multi-ton, wheeled, death machines?

I can't wait for the explanation.

I've been in law enforcement for years. I know all about recidivism and FBI stats on offense and offender types.

And how many felons are employed along side you as LEO's?

ETA: no smoke and mirrors lets stick to the issue of gun ownership here not whether they should be back behind bars or driving down the highway in a big rig.

So the litmus test you're using for whether or not a person should be allowed to own guns is... if they're employees of the government or not?

Jesus. What a sad state this country has become.

A lot of people barred from owning guns under the felony rule are non-violent. It's a felony to transport a lobster in the wrong kind of bag. Or not having the right paperwork on your orchids. Should those people lose their rights because they are felons?

There are plenty of non felons who aren't mature, intelligent or responsible enough to own guns too. The problems with these restrictions is they are made to be one size fits all and in the real world there are variables that need to taken into account.

Say for instance a couple is going through a nasty divorce. After an argument one night she decides to call the police and tell them she felt threatened by his behavior and fears for her safety. State law doesn't give the police any choice but to make an arrest for domestic violence.

He did nothing wrong but there goes his right to own a firearm.

Not to sound like an idealist but people can and do change.

Not at all but I'd like to hear your litmus test.

It is simple and I even stated it previously:

If someone is a threat to society then remove them from society.

If you don't live in jail or prison then why shouldn't you be allowed to own a gun? You're allowed to own explosives, knives and automobiles. Hell, you can even own aircraft and flamethrowers.

I would have to agree with you!

You've been in the military AND have been in law enforcement for years, Avtomat-Acolyte? That is very surprising news indeed, going by some of your posts, comments, and pics that you have shared with us. Very surprising indeed.

Why is it surprising? Incidentally, I am no longer a United States Infantryman.

how about we put the violent ones in the electric chair and let the non violent ones get their guns back?

The FBI only indexes four violent crimes: robbery, aggravated assault(battery), rape and murder. Are there any more offenses you would like to add to the list?

This is why life is complicated. Law and Justice seldom intersect.
