so the gun community splinters further.. we have hunters disagreeing with comp. shooters. Gun manufacturers making enemies with LEO's. People flipping out because ADA police bought "assault rifles". People "boycotting" walmart based off of rumors, etc.. People talking trash about every local gun shop in town due to prices.. I mean if i was an anti i would just look and laugh, instead of uniting together this is most splintered i have ever seen the gun community.. ever..
But ranges and matches are packed and sold out more than ever before. Oh and there are more shooting and hunting shows on TV, podcast, and radio too:)

I forgot to add screw you and suck it;)

Eric I encourage you to email Larue or hit them up on facebook and ask them what they hope to gain from their public statement. My take on the statement was that it was not to punish anyone but instead that the it was to underline the importance of the 2nd amendment and that it is applied equally to all Americans.

LE are no different in their rights than anyone else, that is a fact that I think people often forget. The oaths sworn by law enforcement, military and polticians all swear to uphold the Constitution and often I think that that fact is largely forgotten as in day to day interactions people tend to view thelr lives in a bubble. As stated previously, we all face the same risks and we should all be afforded the ability to protect ourselves.

The contribution that both Mr Barrett and Mr Larue have made to LE and Military over the years is undeniable and commendable. I belive both these men are doing their part to point out that without equality there is tyranny and the last defense against such tyranny is the second amendment.

Todays Shooting Wire emphasized the point that this policy was for local and state level agencies and does not apply to Federal LE. So, they kinda took the teeth out of it, and this is really a hollow gesture.

I didn't hear the same information you're pulling from, but I think you should take into account that the only current bans applicable to the products that LaRue makes are on a state level.

I will email them. I know that the intent is probably not to do anything to make life harder on LEO's....but the actions may. The community is calling for other manufacturers to follow Larues lead. When I start thinking about where this can go in the future, I see a rookie cop who cant afford to buy a rifle (or find one) not get one issued to him by the department because manufacturers wont sell to the department. Do I believe that cop has more of a right to get a rifle than a civilian, hell no.....but he sure will be called into situations where he might need one more than most people.

I never made a point against the fact that the 2A should be applied equally to all Americans. I believe that down to my core. I also see things from an LEO standpoint, from which firearms are tools of the trade. I really hope that down the road, decisions like this do not hinder an officers ability to bring the proper force to an emergency situation where one of our loved ones might be involved. I also really hope that down the road, because of legislation, none of us are kept from having the tools we want to defend ourselves how we see fit, from whatever threats manifest themselves.

I have two families, my shooting family and my LEO family.... I try to take care of both of them.

on a related note: Olympic arms is following Larues lead

and this recently appeared on TacSols webpage:
We apologize to our customers, however we will no longer process orders or ship to New York state.

Nice!
The government is trying to disable the 2nd ammendment and you are going to disable the 1st?

Most of the companies in this industry do the bulk of their business with your average everyday citizen. As more of these state governments pass laws prohibiting business as usual these businesses income levels are hurt. So, I think this could be viewed as an attempt at trying to get LEOs to standup in greater numbers and say, "Hey, maybe this is not the correct course of action. Maybe we shouldn't be siding with these new controls." You know I have seen mixed views coming out of LEO agencies across the country. That is not good.

And on a side note, I have heard that after Katrina the 45th Infantry walked through neighborhoods and confiscated firearms along with officers from other states. All this under the pretext of public safety. So, keep in mind, when an order comes down to start collecting it will not be without a reason behind it that will make sense to you at the time. It is only later, as happened with some of the soldiers from the 45th, that you will realise you made a mistake. Because, they will come for the guns of LEOs, and then they will have total control. All of this has happened before, just look at the history books and you will see it. There is a moral to this story and it too has been repeated.

But, once again we did not learn, or did we?

"You know I have seen mixed views coming out of LEO agencies across the country. That is not good."

I believe that is because the Chief of Police in most jurisdictions is an elected position. The Chief in Chicago does not have the same mindset about the 2nd ammendment as one in the more conservative states.
As an elected official, he has superiors that he has to answer to as well. Its an ugly business to be in, and I applaud the decisions by the gun makers.

The gun makers would have to completely retool all of their factory's to meet some of the idiotic regulations these politicians are proposing, or have passed in the case of NY.

The prices of the manufactured product would have to increase to cover the re-tooling, making guns more un-affordable for the general public, and Law Enforcement agency's with limited budgets.

Somebody has to fight back, and the gun manufacturers are taking the lead. :thankyou:

Benjamin, there is a little truth in different camps not being in agreement with what we consider to be the total picture.

There are generation differences, and sometimes not.

My best buddy that is in his thirty's cannot understand why anybody even wants to own an AR, much less a 30 round mag. We have spent many evenings over beers discussing the why's and why nots. He owns pistols, shotguns, and bolt guns. He is a huge facebooker, and has been influenced by the negativity from that site.

Finally talked him into getting into the USPSA game, and he bought a pistol. As soon as he can find ammo he is going to start, and knowing him, he will own every thing we consider essential weapons before long.

Gun clubs that have the Cowboys, those only interested in Long range shooting with bolt guns, action shooters, really do need to start talking and discussing how we can all be a benefit to each other with our numbers of members.

I don't want a single action colt, but I sure am not going deny somebody that does, and that is where we need to get. Everybody working for the same final goal

Hey Stealth,

I was on the ground in New Orleans a couple days after Katrina as a part of the 45th Fires Brigade. We went house to house clearing them out. If we ran into anyone who didnt want out and had guns, we'd toss them some food and water then check on them every 24hrs. My teams never disarmed anyone, dont know what the infantry guys or any of the other people on the ground did.

Had one older gentleman in the 9th ward who just sat behind his screen door with a shotgun. I tried to talk him into coming with us but he said: "Son, This is my house and Ive seen a lot worse than this".

I said yes sir. Threw him some food and water and got out of there before he decided he was sick of my face lol

who are we to trust, a 1st hand account or the internet?? :)

all in all i am just not for the whole approach of "i feel screwed over, so i am going to screw someone else over" approach.. it is like the teacher giving you a F on your paper, so you punch a kid who got an A. So because you don't like what Obama and congress is doing (neither do the LEO's i know), then you punish LEO's to make a point.. doesn't seem right to me..

Mr. Gambill, I beg to differ. I DO face the EXACT same threats that our brothers in Law Enforcement do. I don't face the same frequency, but they darn sure are the same threats! Let,s take your example of a car full of armed fellons that you stop. This is a HUGE threat to you no doubt! Now take that same car, that violates absolutely no traffic law and has recent registration, all it's lights are working and you don't recognise them as being...well...bad guys. Now they go on their merry way to My house or place of business, and now they are MY THREAT, I fail to see the difference in threat level. If anything I am at a much larger disadvantage, because in your case, at least to start, they were contained in a vehicle. IN my case they are armed MOBILE advasaries who already know what they are going to do or try to do, and I lack body armour and the ability to summon back up at a moments notice or already have called it in.

As for police responding to my family taken hostage I would much prefer highly trained officers with 7 rounds to moderately trained officers with a lot of rounds that they tend to expend to hopefully make up for lack of training. Way too many times L.E. take the position of Us or Them, and this is only hightened by laws that give L.E.O.s a pass and the "public" is forced to bear the brunt of these dicisions. If it takes a bit of "radical, selective" selling practices to get this point accross and change this misguided mind-set I am just fine with that. Remeber no one needs a "high capacity multi-caliber clip full of assault bullets" to aprehend a shop lifter...."get you a shotgun"! Uncle Joe said so

This was a call that was made by a guy from the 45th infantry. Supposedly. This is as I heard it. Again, grain of salt, and for conversations sake.
