Hey Guys,
Any help would be appreciated.
Recently my Baer TRS is hanging up on a reload from slide lock with 4 different McCormick 10 rounder magazines. I have never had the slightest issue in the past. The mags look good; no issues to the eye.
I am using white box 230gr ball and the round will porpoise into the barrel. I have tried to give the rear of the slide a decent rap but the slide will not go into battery. The pistol will load the sig 185 & 230 JHP V-Crown from slide lock but it has a very pronounced hesitation right before it goes into full battery. I am the 2nd owner and I have put @ 3000 rounds through it. Everything on the pistol is lubed and cleaned and I have replaced the springs with Wolffe (18.5lb variable, 23lb main, firing pin spring). The white box 230 Ball OAL = 1.26 and the Sig 185 & 230 OAL = 1.22

Are you releasing the slide using the slide stop or "sling shot" method where you tug the slide back and release it? This may help with the diagnosis ...

My apologies, that would be good info to know. :p
I am using the slide stop with my support hand thumb.

I used black marker on the frame and barrel feed ramp and under the barrel hood and cycled 30 white box 230gr ball rounds using the slide stop from slide lock with the magazines. All rounds cycled but with a very pronounced hesitation.

Dont use Winchester White box.

There I fixed your pistol for you. ;)

The feed ramp looks a little ruff. Also the underside of the barrel hood could use some attention.

What number round in the mag is hanging up or is it all of them?

Most smiths only recommend 8 round magazines for reliability.

All rounds are hanging up. I was more curious about why this issue started up recently.
I am leaning toward the issue being either a rough and dirty chamber or a batch of ammo that has a slightly longer OAL. Although sammi is 1.275 and these rounds are at 1.26?

And we don't know what spec Baer finishes there barrel at and chances are they never even touch the barrel with a finish reamer.

I have tried 1 different mag. As i said this has recently popped up out of nowhere. I have 20 McCormick 10 rounder mags.

Have you changed anything immediately prior to this issue popping up ? Is this the first time with this ammo in this gun ? If all else fails , call Baer . Good luck .

My thought was the springs were getting old. I had about 800+ rounds on the recoil spring and about 1400 on the main spring. Both springs were noticeably shorter than the new springs.

Springs settle in . Measure them new , then 200 rounds later . They will be shorter . But , nothing wrong with starting fresh . First thing I do with a used purchase .

I think I got a bad batch of 230 ball ammo and the unpolished chamber doesnt help.
