How many rounds did you shoot this week?

Your comment about her groups getting closer as the round went on, it pretty typical of a first day shooter.
Took my wife out to shoot, and got the same result. No bad habits from bad advise.

From my personal experience in the military, the guys in basic training, that had never shot a gun before had better scores, for the same reason, no bad habits.

But will say that the folks in the military that shot the best seemed to be farm kids, that grew up with a gun, and were woods-wise. ;)

DW, did you work with her showing her the different grip techniques? I ask because the pictures with her shooting the browning, have different grips

Yeah, we're working on the grip. The Buck Mark has a much more noticable thicker grip than my Ruger 22/45 which she shot the other day. I've shown her different ways to grip the firearm but am more or less letting her settle on what comes natural for her without saying too much since her hands are small. Like most women her stance started out with feet to close together with a slight backward lean at the hips. She's got the feet apart now and most of the backward lean is gone. We're working on getting the arms to stay extended as she tends to bend the elbows after a bit and bring them inward to her torso. She says the gun gets a bit heavy. I told her to start doing pushups to strengthen her shoulders and arms. :)

It's a work in progress but for a new shooter she has impressed me. I give her enough advice to keep her safe but without overdoing it. I don't want to get her discouraged and pissed... or cut me off.

I was gonna shoot at 700yds today but the wind was a horrid cat lady so I just busted out the Nordic for about 100 rounds then went into the woods and shot some 3d with my bow for about 3 hours.

286 rounds of 9mm today - not sure that was a good thing - I think it was more fun to empty the mag to ensure an A vs a miss.

That Texas Star was tricky - you all made it look so easy - I have no clue why those plates eluded me. Maybe we should call them the Longhorn Star to really motivate me.

I'm gonna focus on long range hits and tighter groups for smaller hit boxes - if I had a fancy skinny front post, I'd never miss - but my stupid front post is garbage (see how I just blamed the HW)

Blaming the gun is ALWAYS the first step, just remember that once you get a nice one, you can't do it anymore.

Yes I can, at some point, it will need to go in for some service - And then I can leave my shower cap and home and dust can get in it. Lots of things I can blame!

Shot a rimfire match at the Ponca City club, and got in 100 rounds or so with the plinking, and playing after the match.

Shot up some reloads in .45ACP after the match. Seated the bullets too deep, and they had the occasional jam. All gone now. :D

Shot a 110 rds at a fundraiser sporting clays shoot Friday. Its was my first time to shoot sporting clays. Definitely the most challenging shoot I have ever done.

I'll agree.
Always fancied myself to be a good upland bird shot, but one round at Silverleaf Shotgun Sports in Guthrie, convinced me I need some more range time.

Quite a trip for me, but I'll still do it. :D Great facility.

After Sunday nights head-scratching performance... I ran about 20 rounds through my SW 60 Monday before I cleaned it up.

In daylight, that gun will put 5 rounds into a 2 inch bullseye target at 12 yards. That was double action, quickly.

We will be trying ways to improve the sights on a J frame this week. Can anyone say "Testor's Model Paint"?
