I know I'm new, but though this was a nice place to start. I've committed myself to getting better with my handguns this past year. Upgraded to a Springfield Range Office Operator 1911 9mm to go with my glock 19 and CZ (all 9mm). I try to shoot at least one day a week at an indoor range and expend around 250 rounds on a good day and 100 rounds minimum. It's practice using information and techniques from people better than I. Youtube may be a fools paradise but it has it's pluses.
Started at 5 yards and have moved out to 20 and doing very well. Still work to be done but that's the fun of it.
Number of rounds is a great watermark for practice as well as what you do with the number you shoot. I figure in the last 10 months I have shot about 3,000 rounds of 9mm on the low end and without being to high or too low. Much less on my AR and AK because of weather/wind but I do try to go out and shoot them at least once a month.
The reason I use 100 is because if I'm struggling on trigger pull or sight picture and can't figure it out pretty quick, I'm just practicing a bad habit if I just keep doing the same thing round after round.
I do the same thing with golf. I ask for help or figure it out and don't just keep hitting balls wrong.
I think I made my first mistake with too long of a post.
My bad

Man if you want to master the art of the trigger pull on a pistol you owe it to yourself to go take TDSA's Advanced Combat Pistol class. It's not st all about combat it is all about working and reworking the fundamentals of grip, stance, trigger manipulation, draws and reloads. The class is good for a beginner to any level. Lots of forum members have taken the class and will Echo my recommendation.

I think that's a great idea. Have been trying to make some time to do something along these lines.
Thanks for the suggestion.

I agree TDSA ACP1 is a fantastic class. I've been multiple times.

I got kind of lazy with this, but do maintain a spreadsheet of rounds fired per gun so here are my end of 2016 totals:

44 mag - 100
45 colt - 265
357 mag - 200
45 ACP - 470
10mm - 300
.40 - 100
9mm - 6120
.380 - 50
.223 - 2410
.22 short - 0
30-06 - 122
.22 long - 100
30-30 - 150
.308 - 30
12 gauge - 1067
7.62X39 - 100

Total - 11,484

2014 - 7,070
2015 - 4,930
2016 - 11,484

So this year blew away each of the previous years, and I damn near shot more in 2016 than the previous two years combined.

My prediction for 2017 will be probably close to the same since I know what I need to practice so I'll be able to focus the lead instead of just getting out to plink. Even guns I don't use in competition's will be used to shoot drills. I think the most significant changes from 2016 to 2017 will be far more shotgun, and far more 45 acp.

First year shooting USPSA and 3 gun was very fun. I used to play golf a lot in my early 20's and about half the time I would get out, I'd play with pretentious douchebags with expensive swings, expensive gear, expensive wardrobes, and my blue collar swing and mental game would beat them. They'd act like bigger douchebags after we finished. I've met some of the coolest, down to Earth people shooting competitively this year, which I thought wouldn't completely be the case and that there would be some douchebag egomaniacs. I didn't meet any who would fall into those categories, and was very impressed with everyone. I had young kids offering me encouragement during the first 3 gun match I shot and I was very impressed by that. In fact everyone was helpful. I improved a lot once I learned how to play both games, and had a lot of help from friends I've made shooting these two sports. It would be nice to be competitive with the great shooters up in my neck of the woods, but that's going to take a lot of practice, and loosing some weight, both of which I'm committed to doing over the next few months.

Here's to a great 2017!

Not what I was hoping. I'm at 83% in Production now, but have got all geared up for Single Stack, like a man. I have enough minor ammo to make Master in Production, and after that 2017 will be a return to major power factor. I expect to classify initially in A class, but expect that with enough dryfire I may classify initially as an M. I already have a couple of Single Stack A class classifier runs under my belt from May 2016.
