With smart phones, this is a really easy way to keep a tally. Very convenient and very fast.

It's because people don't understand the point of these stupid threads.
They're not meant to keep a round count of ammo you've burned.
The purpose is to keep track of rounds spent shooting matches & practicing.......that's it.
This is so you can compare yourself against how much practice & match shooting you did last year as well as how much your peers are doing.
Adding the 20 rnds you spent sighting in your gun or function testing your latest mod or burning through your old carry ammo, etc......is stupid & has no value in these threads.

example....
yesterday I shot 189 9 major rounds at the OKCGC match............value
after the match I shot 10 rounds over the chrono.........no value

not at all......I agree with you 100%
They're stupid

But only because they're used as a dick measuring tool instead of a training aid

I have a different take. The 2015 thread, being the first one in which I participated, acts as a baseline. I suck with rifle. If I shoot more rifle and still suck, it's my practice that is failing me. If I shoot more rifle and my rifle gets better, my rifle practice was good, I just wasn't doing enough of it. I count any round fired in competition, practice, or zeroing, test firing, etc..., as every one of those rounds are fired with a training value. If you pop rounds over the chrono with no concern for the group, that's not training. If you pop rounds over a chrono and focus on good sights and trigger, is that not training?

I'm sure some folks use this thread to measure their worth, and if so that's laughable.

I use it to purchase Ammo and to know why I'm getting sloppy. Performance corollaries directly to rounds fired in this sport. The more you shoot the better you can perform.
