How long until you DQ'd?

Well, I just found this thread and figured I might as well share my DQ. To date I've only shot two USPSA matches and two 3gun matches. On Sunday I was scheduled to shoot in a 3 gun match. On Saturday, I had my lower back seize up on me, but it had gone away with some light stretching. I get to the match and start pulling equipment out of my car and it happened again. I stretched a bit and it went away so I figured screw it and checked in anyway. I get to the first stage and when I was on deck, I get all the firearms ready. I started with shotgun and aside from a double feed, I ran it pretty good. I then proceeded to run to the table the rifle was on, picked it up and ran it good, I then had to run over to the next set of rifle targets and then I felt something hit my side and then hit the ground. It was my pistol smh. The one thing that I didn't double check that morning was the retention on my holster. First stage, and a DQ.

I will tell you that that will not happen again. After that, I could feel my back tightening up so I just packed up, went home, and stayed flat in bed the last two days. Back still hurts but at least it's not seizing up anymore. That's what I get for trying to get back into shape. I'm pretty sure that the stiff legged deadlifts are to blame.

Anyhow, I'm glad I got that out of the way now.

The shoot house is brand new. The 100 was for shooting it. "repairs"
I heard about that!

To date I have not been DQ'd, I've sent a few home though as an RO but they were good calls and I never got any argument over them. I've witnessed some pretty questionable DQ calls but there is not much you can do. Learn from it, move on.

Took my first trip to DQ country yesterday.

Aggravated because I timed out on the stage, actually hitting the 75 yard slug steel a fraction after the buzzer. Went to unload the shotgun, counted the rounds wrong and didn't see the last one go into the chamber, was also confused why the bolt didn't lock back. I had several malfunctions with it earlier in the day and figured it was just another. Thought well the bolt will lock back if the hammer is down. ( of course all this thinking was in a fraction of a second) Click the trigger and BANG! Slug through the wall of the shoot house where it met the ceiling. $100 fine for shooting the structure and match DQ. Full ND, no A about it. Luckily no one got hurt and it was the last stage of the match. 4th match to ever shoot.

I put a hole above the tire.

I was thinking about this the other day. I have never heard of a $$$ penalty for repairs. Did the match rules mention a $$ penalty?

I'm thinking they just bent him over the barrel and stuck it in.

I never saw the match rules, but a disclaimer was included by the RO in the stage overview. Shoot the prop, pay.
Kind of like the rule at the Bar. Knock a ball off the table, you buy a round for the house.

This is a kind of a std. rule at most places......you break it, you buy it.

First match, last target on the 5th stage. (6 stage match).

One target left on the stage and I ran my shotgun dry, did a reload and as I was bringing the gun back to my shoulder my middle finger got inside the trigger guard and engaged the trigger. Accidental discharge...DQ.

My trigger finger was extended straight out and pointing down range but instead of the rest of my hand going under the trigger guard and gripping the stock my middle finger went inside it and hit the trigger. Since I didn't engage the safety before the reload, bang! go home!

That was the first and only time I've had that happen, but it's made me more aware of where my hands (and fingers) are when they're not gripping the gun.

Took me 3 years and it was controversial. Was a rifle stage with very tight safety angles. The RO which was very inexperienced first stopped me, and then said I could get a re-shoot, and then moments later said I was outside safety angle. I'm sure I wasn't and the other RO on the stage wasn't paying attention. The "case" was debated at an RO class a few months later and the consensus was that It shouldn't have been a DQ. It was at the 2013 rifle nationals, so it was kind of annoying.

Took me a couple of years and the biggest match I had shot at that point. Doubletap Ranch with a cold snowy day on the 3rd stage of a 10 stage 2 day match. When it came time to unload and show clear I failed to take the mag out until after I had ejected the round in the chamber. Of course when I pointed down range and pulled the trigger it went boom and I was done. That's why when I'm RO'ing, I try to get the shooter to be very deliberate in the unloading process and point the gun at the back berm. Too many shooters snatch the round out of the air or hurry the unloading process.

Details. Was it for being overly awesome? Cause I get those all the time.

Running nearly full speed past the dump barrel(30 gal walmart trash can) , mag fed shotgun, the mag caught on the side , folded it over and down

Flipped the SG out on the ground when it sprung back.

I thought as I was shoving it in - "what do they have in here that is so spongy/soft ? "

By that time I was 4-5 steps past . :senile:
