High Plains Shotgun Challenge 2012

Where is this again? Sounds fun but I don't have the gear or the gun(I know my 5 shot bird gun won't cut it). Maybe I can come watch.

Plenty of time to get your gear. I am currently gathering gear for this match. I should have it all by June. Check will go in today or tomorrow.
Main thing is send your check in and then you wont have a reason not to. Throw a mag extension on your bird gun and have a blast. Pretty much what I am doing.

A mag extention would require perminate alteration to my 870 express... because of stupid demples that would have to be dremmeled out they hold the tube spring retainer in place. :( (to the best of my knowledge) then I wouldn't be able to throw my plug in and take it hunting.

I got rid of my dimples. Why would that stop u from plugging it? You could plug it with the extended tube on it even. It would be a big plug.

Well then I guess I need to start looking for extentions and gear and convince my wife that I need them :D and start reading the rules.

Talk to Tony Wall at the Make Ready Pro Shop. He carries the best ext. tubes from Nordic Components who also happens to be the major sponsor of the match.

OK guys it just so happens that I was working on stuff today and tomorrow,
1st: If your check clears thats your confirmation

2nd: Right now I have 2 RO's confirmed and 2 helpers, We can't put on a match with that!!! So I need all my RO's from last year that plan on doing it again to send in an App, if you plan on shooting and if not then email me your intentions, thanks. Prior service RO's get preference over others so I need to know who plans on being there and who doesn't.

3rd: If you want to shoot the match but you don't feel your gear is up to speed, check with me and I can either confirm or provide you with a direction to go in or proper gear. Depending on what all you need.

if you notated your app as such then yes I was considering you as one of the 2.

Also you volunteered some scrap sheet metal tin roofing, is that still a go??

Yes on both. I just wanted to make sure I was on the list. I have a bunch of scrap 2x4 & 2x6's from my house construction as well if u need any props built. We have a bunch of pallets if you need any of those.

So I have a question the rules say that any gear must be attached to the shotgun before the match and all the way through the match. Does this mean I can't switch velcro side saddles durring the match like these ( http://3gungear.corecommerce.com/Shotgungear/Side-Saddle/Straight-Side-Saddles-p86.html )

if you swap between side saddles and they are the same round count, and you're doing it to keep from having to reload them so often or some other reason that does not provide you with an advantage by doing so,....... I'll say go ahead, if they are different then NO. Pick one and stick with it.

Also could you provide me with the rule in question, So I can see exactly what you're referring to. I may be interpretting it wrong and if so I'll amend my statement.

Rule 5.2.8 but it does say ammunition carriers are an exception now that I reread it. Basicly I wanted to be able to switch the empty side saddle out with a full one. By pulling it off of the velcro and slapping a another one. ( not sure it would be nessary any way being I've never shot a shotgun match before)

I have a question related to this line. Can I use an armband that holds shotshells? What about a shotshell bandolier? I'm mildly concerned about running out of shotshells during a big stage, even though I can carry 24 on my belt.

Those are used all the time and they look badass!

yeah, Iggie swapping those out for that reason will not be a problem, Mitch armbands and bandoliers are fine. we will probably have a stage that needs at least 24 rounds so having more would be nice.
