So instead of digging a hole on boomer get your nose in the books and get sleep so you are not failing classes. Seems to me that may be the smartes thing you can do instead of airing out your hatred for the world. Some people have to work hard for what they have, it has not been given to them from mommy or daddy. Sounds to me it is time for you to grow up . Sorry if thiss pisses you off but most of us have earned what we have the hard way.

I am non military so I might be speaking out of turn but I am pretty sure what sets those guys apart is not so much what they can lift in the gym, do on the range or in the ring. IMO those guys have drive that carries them & pushes them. What makes those guys a brotherhood is the knowledge that what ever adversities may stand in their way they know the guy next to them will not give up. The guys that had excuses of why they could not get it done washed long before graduation.
Just heard this the other day "you only die once, but you live everyday".
My other favorite saying is "there is always someone bigger faster stronger so be that someone"
It sounds to me your parents have done there part you have food, shelter & a safe environment.
Over the years I have helped friends and family out with manual labor related task but I guarantee they were working as hard as I was.

It sounds like you have a unique situation. So if you are content with your grades keep doing less than minimal...
 
Lol. I don't agree with his attitude, but high school does matter less than tests. I dropped out due to illness, got my Good Enough Degree, and recieved acedemic scholarships based on my ACT scores and another for musical performance. If he's smart enough to ace the ASVAB that'd help. The poster above me is right though, attitude is everything sometimes.

On the other side of the coin, Zandar, if I had the oppertunity to do high school over again being totally healthy, I would have been working my arse off to get straight A's in my AP classes. I also would have took a lot more mowing jobs/crap jobs like I had working at white water cleaning pools when I was 16. Money that you personally earned is the best money there is...unless you win the lotto. As far as jobs, do you guys have a wally world or oil change shop? Some of the mom and pop lube centers will hire a 16 year old if he or she is willing to bust their ass and learn to be good at the job. Pays a little better than fast food and was more rewarding for a tinkerer like me.

Ok, I know my grades ain't so hot, I've been going through a lot, been sick and all the other stuff.
I do ask for A LOT of help from my teachers to get my grades up.
For all that don't think I'd be able to get into Delta, you may be right and then you may be wrong. No one knows. So what I ain't the "whiz kid" and have perfect 100's in school? Even though good grades are good to have to show the military you're smart, it's about the mental and physical abilities you have that makes you Delta, SEAL, Marine Force Recon, etc.
The car was a birthday gift for when I had turned 16, it's just that the money wasn't available at the time.
What I mean by procrastinate is that they don't really push it off and slide in under the rug, I mean that they keep forgetting about it since they have all these bills that new to be paid, and groceries, and all that stuff.

SEALs or Delta Force guys may not have to be the smartest on the planet (but some of them are), but they are probably the hardest working. Making Fs in high school is evidence that you are not working hard at school. That translates over to other things you work at. School may not be fun or what you want to work at, but the military will not always be fun or what you want to work at either. It is about drive and work ethic. If my kids had Fs, or even D's, they would not have a car, a drivers license, any extra curricular activities, a job, OR a computer to be on a forum instead of studying! My kids have always been told that school is their job and I expect them to excel at it. They don't get prizes for good grades. I do praise them, but good grades are expected. In life you don't get prizes for doing what is expected.

My advice to you, as harsh as it sounds, is to get off of boomershooter, stop looking for a job and expecting your parents that are trying to make ends meet to buy you a car, and put your head down and do some work on your grades. I mean seriously HARD work. You can shoot later. You can talk elephant dung on here later. You can have a job later. You cannot, however, get your high school grades changed later in life when you realize how much they have screwed you up.

Be glad I'm not your Momma. I probably would have beat your ass by now for the grades. Seriously. Get them up. One day you will realize that all of us old people aren't so stupid. We are actually pretty successful.
 
Here's some advice I'm going through the same things at the moment.
Get your grades up! Even if you don't go to the military, colleges don't like F's.
It doesn't matter where you work. Work where you can. Money is money! If I had an F let alone C or D I wouldn't even be able to think about a truck. All I would thing about is who's going to buy my guns on Enos..Another thing when you think about school is going to get me to College because I'm not A-Rod in baseball. You just need to buckle down before you
Find a job. Once you get it don't quit other employers don't like quitters.,
