it seems 95% of the sellers are chinese. they all ship out of a few warehouses across the country
they have no idea what they are selling, know nothing about the items they sell and I usually get something different than pictured
I got tired of emailing many sellers looking for American sellers before purchasing and finally quit buying off ebay, and ebay doesn't do anything about it they have been bought out just like the socialists democrats ruining our country
I switched to Amazon, no more dealing with lying chinese sellers.

So @Mike A1 ....... Did you get your money back from eBay? Should not be an issue if they are fake. Just file a case with eBay.
No actually the Dealer sent my $ back so fast ghe forgot to ask for the Fakes back until I e-mailed him about an RMA.
I did send e-bay a report about the dealer.

Buy and sell often and been on the sight since the late 90s, I've had a few issues once here and there but no more than any other retail situation.

I guess I've been fairly lucky but I'm into numismatics and eBay is one of the best resources to find what I'm collecting, fairly safe and I only buy coins graded by PCGS so it's pretty secure. I've had more trouble with the postal service than eBay sellers!

$400 graded coin smashed by the postal service!! It was packaged very well too, they crushed the box, the padding, the cardboard wrapped around it and the coin case enough to where it destroyed the value (scratched the coin)

Most recent "problem" I've had was a coin I've been searching for for quite some time (years) popped up as an auction. I contacted the seller and asked him if he would change it to a BIN at what I was willing to pay? Trying to follow eBays rules and be honest! He agreed to my price which was fairly generous.
Well he messaged me that he would do it right away and by the time I got the message from their system he cancelled the auction, relisted it and another person (dealer) bought it before it even showed up for me!!! So trying to do the right thing lost me a very scarce coin that I've been searching for!
He thought I was the purchaser but my deal was basically stolen from me because of being honest.
I asked him to contact the buyer and explain that it was already sold in an agreed upon deal but he wouldn't do anything to stop the sale and honor our original deal! I was very upset and won't let it happen again, I've got other ideas to follow the rules and still work a deal if agreed to by both parties!
There is nothing HONEST and in accordance with eBay rules he could have done once that sale was finalized (paid for.)
Not to drag you, but you asked the seller to do something that is frowned upon by the eBay community - rules or no rules.
That said- once your deal was made with the seller you should have arranged for him to contact you immediately upon or just before listing it as BID, along with some key wording in the listing you would recognize as that item. Just a hint for the future.

I purchased a set of old woodworking hand planes on eBay a few years back. They were delivered, and one had the frame broken, they were not packed very well. The seller had me buy another from a another eBay seller, and they refunded me the other sellers price, which was more money. Excellent CS.

I understand that but I just asked him to tell them what was up and see if they would cancel their buy to let us continue our deal. He didn't, they didn't so I lost it, my bad, I know.

As far as being frowned upon by eBay, I don't see anything wrong with asking someone if they would be willing to change an auction to a sale listing? If the price is ok with them and eBay gets their ridiculous fees then.....capitalism!!!!

I bought a Morgan silver dollar on ebay... My magnet sticks great to it.. The weight was off also. Buyer beware.
Yeah that part is scary to buy ungraded/certified coins on eBay! I buy my raw coins from well established dealers and usually directly from their stores.

I'm old school, I like to go to a store or at least I did before the plague hit. That way I get to hold it , check it out and I might see something that's even better.
If I have a problem, I can return it easily.
I always hear people complaining they have to send something back for what ever reason. We have to keep these brick and mortar stores around.

When purchasing items you can buy new in a store this is my preference to. eBay is got items you can not buy in a store, or the stores are too far away. Wife collect antique Mickey Mouse items, hard to find good one's locally! I collect coins, higher end knives and stuff like that which there are bit very many stores within a days trip that I can get to for these items.

I sell on ebay, 4200 positive reviews. I'm sandtrap14 on there.
It is indeed buyer beware. People are dishonest as buyers and sellers. Buyers take advantage of sellers more often than the sellers however. Buying things and making false claims to get a discount after the sale. Using free return shipping like ebay sellers are Walmart. Just plain being dicks because they are hiding behind a handle.
Buyer beware but most sellers are just people moving materials and small business.
If you are into golf, check me out.
