Burk Cornelius
Regular guy
Some of you know how I feel about the Self-Defense Act in general. If not, catch me sometime with a half bottle of wine in me (and not carrying) and I will tell you.
As you also know there are certain places that are statutorily off-limits for conceal or open carry. I don't really agree with most of them, because some of those are places that shootings have occurred on a regular basis. However, one of them in particular stands out as a "WTF".
TITLE 21 § 1277 UNLAWFUL CARRY IN CERTAIN PLACES
Section A.5. Any sports arena during a professional sporting event
Who was sitting around the room when the "off-limits places" were being discussed and yelled "PROFESSIONAL SPORTING EVENT"? Then the other people in the room discussed it like real smart people do and finally arrived at "Any sports arena during a professional sporting event"
Not regular sporting events like high school hockey, city league basketball, or Softball. No, PROFESSIONAL sporting events! Someone decided that we shouldn't carry in a professional sporting event but other sporting events, that's cool.
The deciding factor in these people's mind on whether we should be allowed to carry was whether or not the athletes were being paid? Seriously?
Example of the ludicrous-ness:
If anyone can come up with a logical reason why this section makes sense, even to a politician, I beg you to make it known

Example of the ludicrous-ness:
- I can carry when watching my OSU Cowboys play basketball but not when watching the OKC Thunder.
- I can carry while watching Pinto's kids play hockey but not when watching the OKC Barons
- I can carry while watching Lance's kids wrestle but not when watching Hacksaw Jim Duggan
- I can carry while watching My godson riding bulls or roping but not when watching the IFR
