Church concealed carry

It seems to me the reason Christ scolded Peter was because of what was going on. It was his time to be taken into custody and to be put to death. Peter was not really defending he was attacking. Notice what he continues to tell Peter... He who lives by the sword dies by the sword.
The interesting thing about this passage is that Jesus was simply trying to fulfill a prophecy. The amount of weapons they had were woefully inadequate anyway. Think about it. There were 12 of them at the time, the original 12 minus Judas, then Jesus. When Jesus found out they had two swords, he said "it is enough!". Now, does anybody really think that if they were planning for a fight that they would stop there when they could have gotten more? Two swords between 12 people when going up against the armed guards of the church and possibly Roman soldiers is simply inadequate. Jesus specifically said why he wanted them:

Luke
22:36 Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.
22:37 For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end.
22:38 And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough.

If you cross reference this you'll understand it better:

Isaiah 53:12
Therefore I will give him a portion among the great, and he will divide the spoils with the strong, because he poured out his life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors. For he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

By being armed and looking like trouble makers, they were fulfilling a prophecy, not gearing up for war.

This whole sheepdog mentality is something I have never been able to get in to. To be honest I think many people carry because they like to feel like one. Personally, I could care less. It's not my responsibility or even desire to look out for other people other than my own family. I believe that concealed carry should be done based on a risk assessment and not based on feeling like a sheepdog.

My dad is a preacher, and when I was 17, a crazy (I mean literally crazy, psychotic man) man walked up in the middle of the sermon with a rope in his back pocket (intentions??) and told my dad he was done preaching, that he was taking over. Six guys rushed him and got him out of the church. Scared us all half to death. Church is not immune to violence and evil.

i would agree that there are numerous CC people that are "hoping" that something happens so they can "be the hero", but if i have the ability to help someone else even if it puts me in danger (i hope) that i would be the type of person that would set up..

My thoughts on Catholic doctrine run a bit differently. We are taught that God gave us freewill. It may well be the freewill of some person to come in while the mass is being celebrated and shoot, stab, etc. I will use the freewill God gave me to defend myself, my family, and, if necessary, others.

The liberalization of the Church has created many that would look down upon that attitude. I believe that, in the event of such an intruder, people would say "why did you let this happen, God. Why didn't you protect me." God, I believe, would reapond, "I gave you every tool you needed to protect yourself. You chose not to use them."
So true...
