Don't know what to do, maybe I could get some thoughts here.
I have a Bushmaster Lower, carbine adj stock with a Yankee-Hill upper with a 12" barrel with a 4" extension.
It was purchased before I fell head over heals with 3gun and rifle competition.
I need to upgrade.
So now, to buy a JP barrel, SJC Titan comp, low profile gas block, extended hand guard, new bolt and low mass carrier, when they get some made, is in the $1k range.
With what I gave for the current gun which was close to $1k then I would be close to $2k in the gun.
That is where I am stumped. $2k is getting close to what I guy can buy a new JP rifle.
So I'm torn between selling the Bushmaster, taking that money and putting the modification money together and most likely another $500 to buy new JP rifle or spend the $1k on the Bushmaster
Anyone get stuck in this position or is this a no-brainier and I'm just having a brain fart?
Thoughts, Ideas, Suggestions or Criticism welcome.

Thanks ahead of time.

My approach to it was to sell the parts I didn't need to fund the parts I did. I had to build mine piece by piece, but now it's where I feel really comfortable with it.

i just sold my RRA AR and built a new one from scratch.... figured if i was going to do it, i mind as well do everything right..

I'm doing the same thing. I figure that the cost of the parts will be the best bet, even though the "Cry once" path sure is easy to follow and is instantly gratifying. I'm not quite considering changing all the parts you are though, since my BCG is perfectly functional and I already have the SJC Titan. I've been checking out a JP trigger, though, instead of improving mine on my own, since my free time is almost non-existent. I also figure I'd sell/trade my replaced parts to recoup some of the expense of the new ones.

This also a poorer time than in recent history to be reselling guns.

Thanks all,
It helps to know I'm not the first one to study on this.
Seems the build yourself plan has its rewards and I like that idea.
It is still a coin toss for me at this time.
Most likley I will wait for a good deal to surface on either project and then follow that path.
At least that way it will seem, meant to be, and I won't worry about my decision.

Sell the thing and buy a JP15. Both John's will thank you for doing so.

Have you shot that rebuilt blow up job yet?
I curious, if i remember right, it has the Light Contour Barrel.
Would like your thoughts on that barrel when you have time.
Thanks,
and one of the John's Thanks you already.
