I spent the afternoon painting and putting a lower together. I had installed an MOE handguard last night, so it looks great.

Started with this Palmetto State Armory Lower

Cleaned it with this

To get the Magpul FDE color I had to mix my own. I used OD Green and flat tan. A diet coke cap makes a handy paint holder.

Here is the logo and roll mark with the enamel on.

This is what it looks like when you are wiping the excess off.

And here is the final product... Delton Middy upper, YHM flip up gas block and flip up rear. MAGPUL MOE furniture.

I plan to swap out a few pieces- but everything will either stay on this rifle or go into a pistol build I am collecting parts for- God bless the modular platform.

Looks great. Like the highlighting on the pictograms and labels. Really like the midlength upper.

Thanks.

I did not thin the paint. I used toothpicks as "paintbrushes" and by tracing the grooves, I got decent coverage. I did two coats on the FDE that I mixed up. I didn't want to have to try to match it at a later date.

I would like to know the exact steps you did because I am ordering a spikes lower to build and thought about this and didn't know how to approach it. Thanks in advance!

My wife and I did the markings and calibers on my USP 45 and her Glock 36 using bright red crayon and then scraping off the excess with a credit card.
