This! My only complaint about this match is that the smaller long range targets don't get painted often enough making them tough to spot sometimes. They start out the day in good shape but don't seem to get painted again during a match. They need to be freshened up with each new squad shooting at a minmum, this way things are much more even for all shooters.
I wanted to use this as an excuse for my scores last month but noticed that Jeremy and West managed to hit them all unmagnified, apparently it was all me. lol...

I don't think anyone woudl complain if one of us drove out there and painted them. Make note to throw a few cans of paint in the truck.

During the winter or summer. But right now everything is so green I bet they're pretty easy to spot. If you paint them orange they migh be hard to distinguish from the fire hose they hang from.
or we could do match where we all get pepper sprayed before hand, that sound good to you...

I'm not following. We run the same optics (except yours is better, it doesn't miss
) and you prefer a black target? I dont think I've shot at a black target with the Pris. Curious to check it out. I know on a freshly painted white target, it stands out. I'd understand a black target with an Eotech or something illuminted...

Lol, it missed a lot the other day! So much that I pulled it all apart and cleaned my comp, etc.
The only time I have had an issue seeing the prismatic reticle against a target was at stage 5 at superstition, which I shot a black target at 325 yards around 7 pm. It had nothing to do with the scope and everything to do with the lighting conditions.
Jeremy the prismaric is illuminated but not even worth turning on during the day.
The edges of white targets wash out, sometimes you think you're on it when you aren't. If you're not going to use a backer (ahem, 3mr) paint it black!

I have no idea what this means but it sounds like a good idea. I'll pepper spray you as a test and we can see how it goes...
My point about painting the targets is that the first shooters of the day see a nicely painted target that is all one color and has some contrast against its background. All shooters after the first few get a gray and nearly camo'd target to look for. I don't know that I care what color they end up so much as they are the same (as much as is possible) for everyone. The backer that Chambers suggested seems like the easiest solution to me. Anything behind the plates for some contrast would be awesome.
I don't want to be seen as complaining about this match, I'm only offering a suggestion. The 3MR match is generally pretty awesome and the toughest one I shoot with my non-magnified gear. We ran into this same problem with long range targets at the Arkansas sectional 3 gun match last year, so it's not a new or isolated issue.

I remember I looked through yours at USSA Mike but couldn't remember about the illumination.
Black 10in target at 300+ yards in a bushy natural background....Id rather be pepper sprayed and have to shoot like that then shoot at targets you cant see, shooting at the 300 with irons at OKGC was bad enough nevermind those were white and I knew where the target was

It's about contrast...white on green or yellow or brown (grass, foliage, etc.) doesn't contrast much. Pretend you're colorblind. What's easier to see?
When's the last time you saw pitch black grass or dirt? I haven't.
Anyway I'll throw some pepper spray in the bag for the next match.
