Just rough guess, about 30 miles away...I would love to go and stretch my AR's out...But, afraid I don't have any class 3 stuff...

The range is open till dusk...We could leave the park at 5:00, go to the range, shoot up the whole world, and be done by 7:00...

Sure works for me...

Great news!
I know it's late in the game, but I've been playnig phone tag with the forest rangers at Twin Ponds and we now have permission to hold the meet at either range!
We need to pick a range and make the change. They'll even post it on their event calendar for publicity.

We held a Shoots 'N Fest last year at Twin Ponds. It was a great location. it is off of Hwy 17 between Georgetown and Mt Pleasant. Boggy Head is near Monks Corner.

Directions to both ranges are located here
or here

We can have the grill as long as we clean up after ourselves, obviously, and when we get over 70 people attending we need to get a special event permit.
Other than that we can shoot our guns too! I'm looking forward to it.

As far as I'm concerned we can move the date, if that will make it more accomodating to you guys.
This should be fun
Pops!

:D

Pops: That is great...lets do it...

As far as the range differences...they are basically the same. The big difference is at Twin Ponds you have to park away from the range and carry everything. At Boggy Head you park less than 25 feet from the range...

I like BoggyHead. I think most people with FA's shoot Twin Ponds thru the week...not as many people there then...I have seen more FA's on the weekend at Boggy Head...But, I am open to either...

If you all want to cancel this next weekend, and reschedule at the range...it is no problem...

Steve

Us upstate guys probably have the same drive to each range so which ever you guys think I'm up for it, The only thing is we're gonna need directions from I26. If we can get this in concrete I can make some calls.

If you all want too, we can still have the swap meet this weekend...just have it at the range...we can get a grill up there and have the small cookout and do some swapping, and...a whole lot of shooting...

We just need to do the desiding real quick...

I am in for this next Saturday...

Steve

Better than waiting for the fair to come to town. Don't have a whole lot of trade-able stuff so I'll be sure to bring cash as well. I'll be looking for things like carbine free-float tubes, bipods, scopes....hint hint

Sorry, but I not been keeping up with this. Where is this to be held? I know it's the 10th of April. If my son does not have a game that day, I would like to come if it's not too late.

We got to put this in concrete guys, Which range? Directions off 26 for us upstate guys and what we need to bring? Times running out.

Guy....what are we doing???????

Somebody say something....I need to know what is happening....Seems like everyone has just given up....

I have a case of hotdogs...Guess I will be eating lots of dogs...

Somebody say something...Saturday is drawing REAL CLOSE

OK FordNut! I'llhave to take the heat for this one.

Here's where we are. Frankly, several people voiced concerns about bringing firearms to a public park, so I spent about a week playing phone tag with the forestry service trying to get permission to hold the event at either Boggy Head or Twin Ponds. We now have permission and they actually thought it was a terriffic idea! They are planning another clean up day in August that some of us in the area may want to participate in. This way we will combine the swapmeet with a "Shoots 'N Fest". We did this last year at Twin Ponds though it was a smaller crowd, we had a good meet. I got to shoot a lot of different guns.

I've never been to Boggy Head, but I am thinking that Boggy Head is going to be the most centrally located range so we should plan on having it there. We can bring all the guns we want without having to push the envelope with our carry permits. So those of you who voiced a concern make plans to attend!

What needs to happen is that I need to put it on the Forestry Service's calendar.
We need to put the dogs in the freezer till May 1. that is 4 weekends away.
I appologize for making a change like this, but I hope it will make for a much better event.
We get to shoot, eat, buy sell, what ever . . . with no problems from the local PD

I've learned a few things about working with the Forestry Service too.
I want to do a Fall shoot in the mid or upstate area. I'll get it on the Forestry Service calendar much sooner.

Fordnut, I need to know how much I owe you for the dogs?
I also plan to bring some stuff for a door drawing.

Sum it up: Palmetto Shooters Forum Swap Meet and Shoots 'N Fest 2010. Saturday, May 1, 2010 start at 10:AM -Till

Don't worry about the Hot Dogs...Iwill eat them.

I now have to cancel the reservations I had with my people.

I just wish I had been kept up to speed on this thing....My people rent the place out and now they lost rent they could of had for this Sat.

It is no big deal, though.

One thing...Boggy Head is a great range, and you can park right at the range, but, there is no place to really do anything as there is at Twin Ponds...
Twin Ponds has a big area where you could have the cook-out and such...

Steve

Schultz
That would be great!
Shootzenfest should be a good time.

I too had people express concern about guns in a park.
Sorry for the confusion Steve.
I will hold a gun to Pops head to be sure you are kept in the loop in the future.

There is no room at Boggy Head for setting up a grill and such???
I have never been there so I don't know...

That's a downfall at Philsons to (Not a lot of room for a grill). But there are resturants around so that's not too much of a problem.

We could set up a grill and a tent to the far right just behind the area where there is no covered stalls. If we do Philsons we will need to get approval with the DNR. If y'all wanta do Philsons we better get on it soon. It gets kinda hot in late June :|
I can help plan it Harry.
