The Media will spin this so it will add to the AR ban. I can hear it now, we are so lucky this was not an AR rifle and our state already has a mag restriction or many more students would have been killed.
I feel the same way, but the interview by Law Enforcement I listened to said the shooter had specific targets in mind. He shot one, and missed the other. He was then talked out of his gun by two adults while students evacuated the classroom area. Takes a pretty brave person to confront an armed shooter while unarmed.
He carried the shotgun into the school and was seen by somebody outside who called 911. The shooting was done and over by the time LEO arrived.
So now we have the same issue. Should teachers be allowed to carry in the classroom, or armed guards in every school.
One armed guard cannot guard every entrance/exit. There are certain times when nature calls, and they have to take care of business, which requires them to be away from the sole entrance, if there is one.
If there are multiple buildings on the campus, how would the guard cover it all?
The only answer I can see is allowing the teachers to carry.
I can't understand the opposition to having teachers carry or having armed guards in elementary school, or even in high schools.
For Gods sake, every college in the US has its own Campus Police.
Why is it ok to protect our college kids, and not our elementary school children?
