I finally got to see episode #2 and #3 tonight.
Episode #2 was an elimination shoot off between Carrie and Steve. Both of them are casual, occasional shooters.
The shoot off was hard. Three small targets, prone. Shooting the smallest target launched a rocket which was cool.
Lots of time editing in that one, they were out there in the blazing sun for 20 minutes before Steve finally hit the small target.
Episode 3. The challenge was to hit a 3/4" hole at 25 yards with the Airforce Talon rifle. Cool gun... 25 caliber, 1100fps, adjustable air/velocity, great trigger. I am not familiar with double peep sights, but I figured it out pretty fast. The aperture of the peep sight 'matched' the 'shoot n see' targets we had for practice. Everyone figured out that if you just covered that target...matched up the edges...it hit dead center everytime...but I decided to pick a spot on a target and learn the index without having the target edges to work with.
Very quickly, I was able to hit the same hole again and again. Its a 1 hole gun.
When the challenge came up we had this black box with the 3/4" hole, inside the hole is a button which hits a primer, igniting a powder charge and boom. Trying to center that peep sight over the hole was futile, indexing off the edges of the peep sight allowed me to hit the target in one shot...I took a slow extra breath which cost me 2 secs, but my 11 seconds was the winning time.
I was pretty keen to win this one. In the first challenge, I was satisfied to just move to the next round. But honestly I was miffed at 2nd place and that Nathan beat me. As the field thins out, it'll be more important to go for wins in each challenge.
