American AirGunner

The 1st elimination challenge had Carrie and Steve shooting at little tiny targets. The smallest of the targets launched a 4 foot tall rocket 1500' into the air. They strapped a Go-Pro to it, this footage is from a test launch.

I finally got to see episode #2 and #3 tonight.

Episode #2 was an elimination shoot off between Carrie and Steve. Both of them are casual, occasional shooters.
The shoot off was hard. Three small targets, prone. Shooting the smallest target launched a rocket which was cool.
Lots of time editing in that one, they were out there in the blazing sun for 20 minutes before Steve finally hit the small target.

Episode 3. The challenge was to hit a 3/4" hole at 25 yards with the Airforce Talon rifle. Cool gun... 25 caliber, 1100fps, adjustable air/velocity, great trigger. I am not familiar with double peep sights, but I figured it out pretty fast. The aperture of the peep sight 'matched' the 'shoot n see' targets we had for practice. Everyone figured out that if you just covered that target...matched up the edges...it hit dead center everytime...but I decided to pick a spot on a target and learn the index without having the target edges to work with.
Very quickly, I was able to hit the same hole again and again. Its a 1 hole gun.

When the challenge came up we had this black box with the 3/4" hole, inside the hole is a button which hits a primer, igniting a powder charge and boom. Trying to center that peep sight over the hole was futile, indexing off the edges of the peep sight allowed me to hit the target in one shot...I took a slow extra breath which cost me 2 secs, but my 11 seconds was the winning time.
I was pretty keen to win this one. In the first challenge, I was satisfied to just move to the next round. But honestly I was miffed at 2nd place and that Nathan beat me. As the field thins out, it'll be more important to go for wins in each challenge.

Thanks for the update, and keep posting links to the episodes as they become available.

Good Luck!

After watching the 1st two episodes I'm pretty certain Robert is the only one there that actually shoots.

Thanks...I'll take that as a compliment.
Donnie is also known as "Boggy Creek Wiliams" in SASS. He was 5th overall at the big roundup at OKCGC this spring.
Nikki is an IDPA shooter, Marksman i think, I dont know my IDPA classes...shes maybe a low C in USPSA. Shes a good kid.
Nathan was all spray and pray, and he managed to connect. He just goes all out, full speed, all the time. Kids these days.

Rob, is the host a tool in real life?

Yes.

That was a compliment. Is that one chick the daughter of the nighthawk custom folks?

How long did that challenge take? The doushe bag host got tired and had to sit down with y'all on the bench.
