About the Donation Give Away

What the heck are your ranting about now? The government isn't taking this money. Paypal is getting their cut and nobody seems to mind that. I think paypal is being run by the government!

If anybody wants their money back they can have it but the paypal fees are going to come out of the rest of the money that is freaking going to two non profit organizations.

I thought about just deleting your comment but its amusing so ill leave it there.

You do as you wish. The forum may be yours but the money was intended for a specific purpose which was changed without any heads up to those who had donated before that decision.

We have no issues. We're actually really excited about half the donations going to help Office Peery's family.

Benjamin-Benjamin, if you win the lottery I'd love to be part of that company you're talking about.

It's not about the winning of a pistol. If not for the goodness of the folks at Sooner State Pawn (whom I had the pleasure of meeting this morning when I went to their shop), there would be no pistol. Originally the intent of the give away was to support future matches.

This is about diversion of funds intended for a specific purpose and sold as such. That diversion of funds, no matter how noble the cause... is completely wrong.

And let me tell you a little how the senario went - SSP wanted to be a paying sponsor of BS - I suggested that they donate a pistol instead that we can use the funds to help with the match and also give a member something nice. When I asked them about half going to the Chad Peery Fund - they were EXCITED about it - if you have any doubts please read their post above. Why is this a bad thing? Do you want us to give NO money to the Chad Peery Fund and all to a local match? That is how it's coming across.

THOSE who donated before were given a choice for refunds. Your point still makes no sense.

Whether or not Tommy at SSP was excited again is not the issue. Donated money was arbitrarily diverted from the original intent.

Regardless, your decision has discredited you and this forum. Very unfortunate as I enjoyed participating here. I won't be part of something though that is wrong. Nor will I support it by ever donating to it. Nor will I support it's sponsors (of which SSP happens to be and with whom I placed an order this morning.

wow, this argument is f'ing stupid!!!!! I'm seriously disappointed in the turn this has taken.

:sign0085: :sign0024: :sign0099: :sign0096:

I don't even know what to say other than to ask if you forgot your meds tonight or something. This is so out of left field its ridiculous. Somebody call Mr. Peery and tell them he aint getting his half. Its going to the match instead. Dutch would you mind PMing everybody and asking them if they want their money back?

Don't worry Tony - the funds are not being altered by the opinion of one or two - but to be fair they deserve the opportunity to voice their opinion. I keep getting donations every hour so I think the masses have spoken by far.

What do you guys think should be buy shirt for everyone at the match, get more trophies, maybe toss another glock on the prize table? I sure am glad we don't have to have all that stress of donating to a police officer anymore.

Not worried at all, I have no doubt you guys'll do the right thing.

BTW: please don't delete or alter my post. I think it's pretty mild compared to what I backspaced, but it's up to you.

Dutch,

I'm not piling on here. Really I don't mean this that way.

But another way of looking at it is, what was the gun giveaway's purpose? Bottom line, it was to promote the site. The match sponsorship was just a way to that end yes? I know for a fact that at least two and I suspect several others have joined the site just to participate in the drawing. So they are successfully promoting the sight no? The new members will most likely stick around.

Here's what we know.
1) They are promoting the site as intended.
2) Donor of the gun is happy with the decision.
3) They offered refunds.
4) The vast majority of the members are happy with the split.
5) They are still sponsoring the matches as originally intended.

So I just can't see a loser in this deal. As the saying goes YMMV...

Brandon and Jesse have no ill intent with what they're doing. Instead of using the funds entirely to benefit the shooting community, they decided part of the funds collected would be put to great use by donating it to a fallen officer of the law and in your twisted way, you're trying to turn it into something bad. Clearly, you want all donations being collected to be spent on future shooting matches and not a single dime go to the Peery Fund.

With an attitude like that you won't be missed and as such, I'm sure you fit right in with the vast majority of those at another forum which shall go unnamed.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out...

Personally, when I DONATE money, what happens to it from that point is no concern of mine, even if it's spent on something I disagree with. In this case, any funds I donate are being used for a great cause and I am proud to know that I could be part of that.

So you are pissed because two people who don't give a rat's ass where their money went donated some money to sponsor local matches and now half of that money is being given to a paralyzed cop? Oh, and they have even been offered their money back if they don't agree with this change? You can't be serious.

I think we've all been trolled.

You know, I could see the bad mojo if this was the other way around. If the original intent was for all proceeds to go to the Peery fund & then diverted to something else to selfishly benefit this site or the promoters. But this is not the case. Instead, it was decided to selflessly sacrifice 1/2 of the benefit and give that to someone who selflessly sacrificed himself.

I'm sure our contribution won't make a huge difference in their lives. But if we can help to improve their unfortunate situation 1 bit, I'm on board as it seems is (almost) everyone else. I have not doubt the Peery family is grateful & I hope none of this bickering dissuades anyone from donating.

As has been stated many times, there are several ways to contribute to either cause. If you don't feel comfortable with this method, please use any of the alternative methods you do feel more comfortable with.

This ^, i don't think anyone in their right mind would make the argument dutch is making, i think he is is just trolling, i mean can you imagine the headlines at tomorrows daily oklahoman,

MAN ARRESTED FOR EMBEZZLEMENT OF FUNDS BECAUSE HE DONATED 1/2 OF THE MONEY TO A CHARITY AND TOLD EVERYONE ABOUT IT AND OFFERED REFUNDS IF YOU DIDN'T AGREE!!
Local man says "this is a perfect example of how our society is heading downhill, i mean helping a man out in need when they should have been giving money to matches, i mean what type of monsters are these people"

Dutch,

I see your point and I your logic is sound. I feel we have made it very clear to the original two donors now that their money will go to both parties. They did not have a problem with it. So the problem is solved for us and I hope it is for you as well. You are a valuable member of our shooting community and I would hate to see you leave this forum and and i would really, really, really, hate to see you stop your new adventure into the action shooting sports as a result of this giveaway.

DutchWrangler,

Are You mad because when the new donation to Officer Peery was announced you knew more people would donate and thereof hurt your chances at winning a pistol? =Greedy

Or do you just hate cops? =#*?!

Just to be clear:

em·bez·zleâ€'[em-bez-uhl]

â€"verb (used with object), -zled, -zling.
to appropriate fraudulently to one's own use, as money or property entrusted to one's care.

Obviously, this is not the case. Money is being DONATED for other people's use. Thats all I'm going to say about this thread.
