Dennis, I load as close to 165pf as possible & use an 18lb recoil spring

I'll try that. I loaded a few really light loads that barely made the action work, but they were sure soft on recoil.
Sorry Dennis, brain fart....I use a 16lb recoil spring in my .45
Try 17 or 18lbs

Not a 1911 guy but some of the guys I used to shoot with stated they were running around the 10 lb range. I always felt setting up the recoil spring was dependent on the shooter. Get one of the variety packs or a few different wt springs and have fun testing.

I just worked up a load for CDP/SS, using 230gr cast lead round nose bullets. My scale says it's 4.1-4.2 gr of Bullseye* and it is pretty consistent at 168PF. Recoil is very nice, runs fine with whatever my 1911's stock spring is (probably 18lb).
*My scale is a Lee POS so for all I know it's actually 4.5 grains. Work this up yourself.
