About ready to quit the 1911 forum because it has so many backward, woke, ignorant, self-serving members. Including the so-called moderators, besides many don't know crap about 1911's. Might as well be a Glock forum.

That forum could use some improvement. The moderators are assholes....one in particular from the Northeastern US. I've never seen so many closed threads.

That's one of the main reasons why I don't post on TOOS as often as I used to. Mods/Admin will randomly close threads just because they want to close threads. "This topic as run its course - case closed. Thread locked". People were like, "wait a minute... we still have valid points to make, both pro & con".
1911 Forum is way way way too heavy handed, if you ask me...
It seems to be 3 of the moderators in particular. The one I mentioned from the northeast and a fairly new one are the worst of the 3. The other one shows up occasionally and never fails to close something.+1

I've never been on that forum. I have been on some forums that have been way over moderated and it's not pleasant.
The job of being a highly paid moderator (Ha! HA!) is to make sure that content not appropriate to the forum by the forum rules is taken off the forum or more important that the person posting it gets a private message asking if that content can be taken down or modified so it does meet forum rules. Nothing more, nothing less. The person posting it doesn't get offended online, and life goes on.
The title of "mod" is not allowed to take personal issues they don't agree with as an issue to remove content or persons which is what happens in some over moderated forums if they are not a true moderator.
The mods in that situation take their "authority" beyond what the scope of their responsibility is, and sometimes the management agrees with it which again is not right in the scheme of things. IMHO forums are open discussion platforms.
Sometimes content coming into the forum contains spam or porn. That goes away immediately. No questions asked.
There are methods to get around bans, and so on, that is on the techni side of the internet, but forums have some capability to catch those before they go live, this is one of them.
I have strong opinions, but my history across the internet in this and higher forum admin positions is that everyone has their own beliefs.
As long as they stay within the forum rules, your good to post whatever you wish. We can discuss online or privately. I don't judge, just discuss.

Another problem with the moderation there is that mods don't follow the posting rules. They often moderate threads based upon their beliefs or due to complaints.
Moderate buy them posting rules as the members are required to follow. Addicts seems to be following suit. It's becoming 1911Forum 2.0

A lot of things are said by certain people over there, that they wouldn't have the stones to say in person. I just don't go there anymore. I caught myself seriously thinking about a road trip.
