    PETA leading hipsters to hunting

Very interesting article. I'm certainly no liberal or hipster, but I am learning to hunt (I'm 34), and the reasoning cited in the article is not far from mine. Hunting is simply the most honest way to come by food, and I think there is something missing spiritually in a person who doesn't know...

    Hunting partner needed

I've noticed this too, and I've been hoping to learn to hunt with a "low tech" approach and rely on my willingness to walk a long way or go to physically demanding places on public land that others will not... If such places exist in OK. I certainly can't afford the baffling figures I hear...

    Hunting partner needed

This is the kind of help I could really use. I scented down and sat in the woods a couple times this gun season and didnt see jack (heard some gun shots though). I had the nagging feeling that I just wasn't in a good spot, I just didn't know why. I would think about things like access to...

    university carry

...not sure if serious...? How is this any different from the same scenario at the fair, a festival, the park, a dark alley, etc? As an undergrad at TU, I was 28 years old and had a family. I spent a few late nights in Keplinger hall doing homework with my young daughter sleeping next to me...

Carbine length on 14.5" and 16" barrels - why?

Hmm... I guess "carbine" does sounds more badasser than lame-o "midlength" anyway. Plus I like my guns with MORE recoil!! Anyway, thanks for confirming my suspicion. My guess is these are still "milspec" because military beaurocracy yada yada, and eventually the military will go to midlength...

Carbine length on 14.5" and 16" barrels - why?

Been meaning to ask this a while now... Why do these exist? Why not just make them midlength? Is the higher gas pressure advantageous under adverse conditions? Better for full-auto, maybe? For a civilian AR, carbine gas seems to me obsolete in 14.5" & 16" barrel lengths. But I see a ton of...

AR stock selection for competition rifle - balance vs weight?

Cool, y'all have given me a lot to think about... That ACE Ultra Lite certainly looks attractive, especially at that price. Thanks again.

AR stock selection for competition rifle - balance vs weight?

Thanks for all the responses. I'm thinking about running a UBR for balance and ergos, and just focus on staying lean and quick to optimize my movement. Any thoughts there?

AR stock selection for competition rifle - balance vs weight?

I'm getting close to finishing a competition rifle build and need to pick a stock. Current config: Loki 18" double fluted rifle gas barrel, 17" carbon fiber handguard, Aimpoint T1. Current stock is a cheap M4 stock I had laying around. As configured, it weighs just over 7 lbs, but feels...

    USSA training groups.

I will sure be there. You can't beat this quality of instruction, and the price is right.

Wife decided she wants to carry...what?

One that I believe is overlooked is the Ruger SP101 with a bobbed hammer and 2-1/4" barrel. Slightly bigger/heavier than the J frame and much easier to shoot. Plus it's a 357.

felt recoil between jp lmos and nickel boron bcg

I've talked to a few people that run them in fighting rifles because they like the harder "slam" forward into battery. I believe the theory is fewer out-of-battery failures to fire in dirty / adverse conditions. I don't know a good reason to argue with that. Can't think of a reason to run one...

    USSA Multi Gun Match 01/22/2012

I can write something once I get familiar with the scoring. Excel is about 90% of my job as an engineer so it will actually look like I'm working :D
