You need to make a short casting video (3-5 minutes only) in which you talk about your marksman skills and show off your personality. Let us know why you could be the next Top Shot!Â
1. INTERVIEW FOOTAGE: Tell us all about yourself and your skills as a marksman. We want to get to know YOU. Look into the camera, have good energy and be yourself. Do not read off of cue cards or make a presentation. We want to see your personality! This is your chance to show the Producers what you are really like. The video does not need to be longer than 3 - 5 minutes. Remember that this video is what our executives will use to determine whether you should be on the show or not. So put your best foot forward! Have fun, have good energy, chat with camera like you would with a friend at a party, and be yourself! Go ahead and brag about your skills, your experience with marksmanship, your awards, etc. Talk about yourself and why you are different and interesting. I want to know why YOU think you can be America’s next Top Shot.
Start by introducing yourself and talk about the following:
1. Your experience and training with firearms/marksmanshipÂ
2. Your greatest skills and marksmanship accomplishmentsÂ
3. What you love most about guns and marksmanshipÂ
4. Tell us about your other interests and passions in life
5. Describe yourself. How would your friends describe you?Â
6. Tell us how competitive you are
DRESS: Wear clothes that best reflect your style and personality. Avoid clothes that hide your face or body shape, i.e. bulky sweaters, sunglasses or low hats.
CAMERA EQUIPMENT: Use a DV or mini-DV camera (if possible) and keep the camera as still as possible while filming.
FILMING: For the interview, stand up and adjust the camera so that you are filming yourself from the waist up. Do not stand too far away from the camera!
LIGHTING/SOUND: Make sure that we can see and hear you properly before you start filming. Make sure the room is well lit, and avoid having windows or bright lights directly behind you as this may obscure your face. Close windows and doors, and turn off air-conditioning and phones to restrict noise.
2. MARKSMANSHIP FOOTAGE: If you have any footage that you have already filmed of you shooting or demonstrating your marksmanship ability, please send that in as well. I cannot ask you to go out and film yourself shooting, but feel free to provide us with anything that you think will help us to evaluate your skills.
VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
FINALS WEEK: If you are chosen as a finalist, you must be available for Finals Casting Week in LA from June 26 to July 2.Â
PRODUCTON DATES: If you are chosen as a cast member, you must be available to film the show in LA from August 3 to September 15.Â
SEQUESTERING: If you are chosen as a cast member, you will be living with 15 other contestants in a house without access to communication devices (telephone, computer, mail…) or print and electronic media (TV, radio, newspapers, magazines, books…). You must make arrangements to be out of communication with loved ones, friends and your job for 5 to 6 weeks.Â
Also, please send me a clear, face picture of yourself. Include any other materials that you think showcase your skills as a superior marksman.Â
Please review your video before sending it in to make sure that we can see you, hear you, understand you and, in general, care about what you have to say.Â
Please make sure that I receive ALL your submission materials (application, video and photo) as soon as possible. The longer you wait, the more chance there is that your submission will not be viewed due to time constraints. I should receive your information no later than 4 days after our phone conversation to receive priority attention. Final deadline for ALL submission materials is May 20, 2011. No submissions will be accepted after that date so it is imperative that I receive ALL your submission materials BEFORE the deadline
