awesome match... can't wait for the videos of the 12 year old girl...she did really well.. and hopefully after people see her shoot they won't be scared to come out and try it!!

Tight. This was my first competition, and holy crap was it fun! My eight-year-old daughter was pumped to hear about the twelve-year-old, and wants a pistol now.

Dave, was not sure you were going to be able to top January's match, but I really liked the cop in the middle of the moving Rosie O'Donnell wanna be target. Great match.

For those of you on the fence, make it a point to clear your calendar for March 20. This is a lot of fun and will teach you more about what you need to work on from a practical standpoint. I personally learned that you should always carry one more mag than what you think you will need, which is not a bad life lesson itself.

Thanks again Dave for your efforts.

that x y thing had me all screwed up too... probably my best run ever... and I shoot the wrong guy.

We should do more of those split stages... can't get enough draws and quick shots on target... that was a very practical drill.

Very cool match guys. I can't wait for the next one. Maybe I will shoot it with the revolver, I sure can't do much worse than I did tonight.

Are you talking about Stages 4 and 5? (5 being where you drew and fired 2 rds only)

No one seems to know how fast they can do that. Well, now they do ! And we'll do it again in 6 months or so to see who improved and by how much.

Very good point! If a 12 year ok'd girl isn't scared to shoot why would anybody else be? Man that young lady can shoot that HK!!!

Jesse, You were the high....Low? What does this mean?

Our divisions are HI Capacity (10+), LO Capacity (9-), Revo, Subcompact, Snubby, and PDL(anything with Ports, red Dots, or Lasers)

I guess that means I should save that stage as another separate score sheet with a distinct name so everyone can go find it in 6 months for comparisons sake?

It was good putting a face with all the BoomerShooter names. Steak did we officially meet? You don't have your real name anywhere.

I strongly second the suggestion/idea to have this match two times a month. It's obviously popular enough and there are "new guys" every month. Some regulars as always but last night was incredible on the amount of new and enthusiastic gun owners in Oklahoma.

If this was your first match last night, you did an awesome job (if you were on my squad!) Everybody was safe for the most part and we blazed through the stages. Most people helped reset and tape the stages. It was a smooth match even with all the people and complicated (and more fun) stages.

Two matches a month would allow some of us to shoot it twice or if birthdays, illness, or whatever, we have an option to shoot it when it fits our schedule.

I also want to strongly stress FOLLOW THE RANGE COMMANDS. It's not a race to unload and holster your weapon. Just take a breath after the stage and listen to the RO (range officer). The RO must see the empty chamber before you pull the trigger and holster. ALSO when moving, KEEP YOU MUZZLE POINTED DOWN RANGE. Not at the wall but down range into the rubber berm.
I'm not meaning to preach but there were a couple shooters that were borderline on the 180 rule. If you hear the RO say "muzzle" it means your muzzle isn't pointed where it should be.

Overall it was a great match and many thanks goes to David, Jesse, Shannon, Mike, Burk and all the others that helped RO, tape, and setup and cleanup.

Thanks

We are coming up on the one-year mark for this match and I have only been to 5 or 6 of them but I think this was by far the best one we have had. I know it is a lot of work to come up new stuff every month but David keeps churning out great (practical) stages. Keep it up David.

Thanks everyone who helped R&D the stages as well as the great Range Officers we have, David, Jesse (stats monster), Shannon and Mike.

Bingo. The average stage gets 1draw- 4 per match.
Getting an extra "hot" draw and presentation or two is a good thing.

Jesse, what Stage # was the X, Y target fiasco? I am trying to see if I even shot the right ones. I guess if you didn't you would have about 40 seconds in penalties?

stage 1

i agree with Jeremy, twice a month would be great... most of the time i would probably come both matches anyways ( i could use the practice).. even if the stages were the same it wouldn't bother me... David, who do we need to bug to make this happen in april??

This was my first match at Heartland and I will definitely be back every month, twice a month if the second match happens. Thanks everyone who helped put the match on and put together some awesome stages! Maybe next month I will shoot the right x or y target or at least not shoot the wrong guy extra!!!
