I had a blast!(literally) very fun match. i'm glad that I started coming to them about 4-5 months ago. I'm about to deploy so I didn't buy a holster rig from David;because I wouldn't get much use out of it before I leave. But now after doing a draw and shoot two in 1.54 I''m really curious to what I would have got without a crappy nylon holster.

That draw and shoot 2 is a good bit of info. Just think how far a bad guy good get in 1.5 seconds or so! Heck if David was the bad guy he could draw his primary gun, pop you twice and do a reload before you shoot.

i agree with Jeremy, twice a month would be great... most of the time i would probably come both matches anyways ( i could use the practice).. even if the stages were the same it wouldn't bother me... David, who do we need to bug to make this happen in april??

I'm always down for more shooting especially when it's 4-5 miles from home. However if we start another match I'll need to get another volunteer to back me up on the score keeping. I will be traveling to major matches once May rolls around and I won't be around 1-2 Sundays per month.

I was pretty impressed with that .89 he did.

I screwed up and forgot to include the 5th stage in the posted scores. It was originally used to calculate the winners and such but I didn't print it. i can't believe nobody caught that. I have updated everythign now.

Maybe I'll start a thread about having 2 matches a month.

Right now, it seems that if I had an entirely different match protocol (different guns allowed, like .22 rifle or revolver-only) then I'd lose 90% of the folks that shoot this one.

40 shooters is getting pretty close to the capacity for this match. And to be honest, I'm surprised we didn't break 50 this time. We had a lot of new shooters, so that means there were a few that didn't make this one. I know a match in TX took away a couple this time around, so next month, we well could break 50 (especially since there is going to be FREE FOOD!)

And with warmer weather coming, would that keep people away to enjoy the nice weather?

There needs to be at least 20 shooters to make it worthwhile for Heartland at each match. Could we do that, twice a month, match after match? Then again, if we only get 20 per match and we are currently getting 40 at ONE, then it costs more money to have two, making little business sense.

Let me get your thoughts on this in the other thread.

Makes me think I should practice kicking someone in the nuts while I draw.

I took your advice and backed off the window on the last stage. And It helped my sight picture without that tarp in my face. :singing:

awesome video... thanks for posting, although i did notice the guy that was RO in the second half of that video is much better looking than the guy that was RO in the 1st half of that video..

Although that was an obvious dig on me you did say you were looking at me. Have something you want to tell us? :sign0004:

I don't understand the scoring very well. Is there someplace that calls out the meaning of all the acronyms? And how the penalties are awarded?

This type of scoring is called time plus scoring. David calls his version teh 357 system. Every non center hit and any penalty cost you additional time to your stage time. The hits on the targets that aren't in the center scoring zone add 3 seconds. If you do not hit the target you add 5 second to your time. If you shoot a no shoot target you add 7 seconds to your time. A procedural penalty is 3 seconds per shot while committing the procedural. Procedurals are thigns like shooting the targets with yout feet out of a designated box or shooting the targets in the incorrect order. Lastly we have the WTH or What The Hell penalty that cost you an additional 60 seconds. This penalty is for someone that knowingly does something really dumb like shooting under a wall to reduce their stage time.

Does anyone know why in the hell the vids I post show up as a link instead of like everyone else's??

so what does total time down mean?

basically points down would be the deduction you would get in penalty time for misses, procedurals, or What the Hell deductions like shooting a "barrier" or good guy to hit a target.

Raw stage time minus the deduction gets the stage time. Find my times for Revolver class... I ended up around 267 points for a match total.or, raw time plus about 100 points for various and sundry penalties or time down charged for non a zone hits
