Nice looking garden!
I was at a buddy's yesterday. Last year he grew tobasco peppers. Right before the freeze, he pulled the plants up by the roots and brought them inside. Each bush had hundreds of peppers still on them.
We broke a couple open, recovered the seeds and put them in the ground today. The soil temps are up to 60 degrees now, so from what we read, there should be germination in a week or so.
We talked about how back in the day, all the old diners had a bottle of green tobasco peppers whole in vinegar and salt on every table. It was not that hot, but the flavor was amazing.
We are going to try that this year.
As a side note, last fall we were in our RV at Lafayette Lousiana. Our group took a tour of the tobasco factory.
After the tour, we went to the gift shop where you can try all the different variations they offer now.
I commented to the lady behind the counter that I had noticed their sauce had become thinner with less heat than I grew up with and was served in our K-rations during the early 70's on a daily basis. (Tobasco was a game changer with those meals.)
She acknowledged that in the late 70's they reformulated the recipe to reduce the heat.
She also said they offered a legacy sause that was a copy of their original recipe. Not cheap at $25 a bottle, but I bought three. Love that stuff.

I recall it being "hotter" than it is now.

Growing up overseas in the US Army I was introduced to Mothers milk very early in my life.
Never sat down to a meal on post or off, where the ol man did not bring the Tabasco sauce along.

Even our MREs had the small bottles of Tabasco thank God.

Today I can not eat Clam chowder without Tabasco sauce, it's in my blood.
Of all the store bought sauces I use original Tabasco has my heart.

I just started drying some pineapple peppers and found some Red Ripples in the bottom of the box I got.

whole house smells amazing, but ground a few up by accident...and it was a coughing fit for about 10 minutes.

If anyone wants me to send them some or wait until I find the right combo of both LMK. Happy to send a small bottle of it...but wow it's amazing on some fries I just tested.

BTW, user warning...might be hot. Use as little as possible. Wear gloves, wash your hands, do not get into your eyes. etc!

Peppers are one of the most nutrient dense veggie you can eat, even without the hot part.
A lot of health benefits from a vegetable, used by many cultures around the world..





We tried 3 new peppers this year with our other 10 varieties.

Scotch Bonnets R, HOT XXX & the red mild heat X Trepadeira do Werner, L . Lower. Aji Charapita XX Mid range flavor bombs.

Both peppers are sweet fruity & add special flavors the TDW is half as hot as a store bought Jalapeño
Red ripe Jalapenos are sweet with a great flavor made into poppers or cowboy candy..

Any pepper like any tomato will only develop it's sweetness & flavors when Ripe.
Green peppers have a bitter component that can upset your stomach.

Yep. The dried versions are excellent. Just topped a burger and so much flavor.
Love the Aji peppers we grow the Aji Mango for 2 season now & it's delicious!
We have the Aji Pineapple on our new Aji list for next season. The new 4 this season our Aji Charapita is out of this world great ground into powder.

Did you notice how much the flavor sucks compared to, the Most popular hot pepper in the world. The Scotchie Mon! ;)

Scotch Bonnets & Red Caribbean Red Habaneros are from 100,000 to 250,000 SHUs full of flavor & sweetness.

Most of the pepper growers are more into flavors & smells for use in foods. Some grow the latest super hot. Do they eat them ? :p
Go to their site & look at their storage methods they use some buy 22 CU foot freezers to keep fresh & dried peppers safe.
Some have, oh well it's nutz I even bought a 7 cubic foot chest freezer for my fresh & dried stash for about 2 years into the future.

Have you heard of a 7 Pot pepper? No matter the name, the 7 Pot stands for a class of super hots that will season verry hot,
7 pots of Chilli or chicken & dumplings. We use 2 seeded Scotchies for a 16" Pizza o_O 7 Pots? :eek:

You can't get more comments on a world's' hottest pepper than from a Hot pepper forum.

Most comments: MEH! What's next do we start with numbers like 123? Or do we just give them names like we once did. LOL?

A few pepper heads grow SHs out of curiosity, however the seed sellers are now offering more normal heat & flavorful varieties.

We are just getting into the hundreds of wild & heirloom peppers seeds coming in from overseas. The Aji peppers Aji means Chili in South America. Many Aji peppers are sweet as sugar & no to very little heat.

I love Flatiron peppers! I don't like the really hot stuff like "I can't feel my face"
My favorites are Dark & Smokey, Asian blends, 4 pepper blend.
Once you've tried these, you won't ever buy red pepper from the store again.
I make my own chili seasoning and taco seasoning with Dark & Smokey, it is way better than the seasoning packets from the store

I need to find some hatch green chili jam! I had the best grilled cheese sandwich ever tonight. It has gouda cheese, bacon, thin sliced green apples, & hatch green chili jam on sourdough bread. I would never have ordered a grilled cheese with apple slices or green hatch chili jam on it.... but the chef talked me into it and it was amazing!

It's out and about & this fall harvest time so many more options will be available soon.

Hatch pepper is a line of peppers from no heat, to melt you face. So be careful which one you make, grow or order. They are hybrids.

We don't grow Hatch as their are sooo many better tasting peppers like Red ripe Serranos, Orange Scotch bonnet, Aji Mango etc.



Make your own. We just made a fresh batch of Pineapple Scotch bonnet jam. WOW it's great. 1 ripe pineapple x 4 Scotchies reg jam rescope.
