Well I had planned on ordering a new Loki rifle but since it seems they are no longer in business can anyone once recommend a good company. Or is it cheeper to just do it myself?

About the only way it's cheaper than doing it yourself is to buy a Stag 3G but you will have to search or wait for one of those.

Build one cheap upper and lower jp ignition and barrel at least 15 inch hand gaurd of choice and there u go

It's not really about being cheaper to build your own, its the ability to build it the exact way you want.
My first AR was purchased as a complete unit and I ended up swapping everything out except the bcg and the receivers. I've built every one since then because its much better to have it the way I want and not go swapping elephant dung out.

It definitely seems cheaper to me in the long run because I can buy one piece per paycheck and not have to save up for a larger sum to throw down all at once.

Jesse I know you are sponsored by Stag, but gun guy to gun guy are they a good rifle. I haven't had aNY experience with the brand.

I've been gathering parts for a new AR for it seems nearly 2 years, it will be my first build from ground up. Lower is done, almost have everything to start on the upper. Don't know that it will be cheaper than a complete upper, but as Matt said it will be the way I wanted on this one.

I built a rifle I thought would be the awesome 3-G rifle, well when I changed up almost everything I had almost enough to build my critter getter AR I just finished. Figure out what your wanting to do with you rifle and get the parts and put it together, probably not cheaper but buying parts here and there doesn't seem to hurt the pocket as bad. Later,

Kirk

I can't answer for Jesse, but I have a Stag 3G and it's a fine rifle. It's a hell of a lot of bang for the buck. The only part that I chose to change out is the factory muzzle brake...it worked too well and pushed my muzzle below the aiming point. I did add some nice to have stuff like an ambi safety and "BAD Lever" typer bolt release along with a couple of other things. But, these are my preferences and are not required to make it shoot....they shoot very well out of the box.

+1 to Moto. I also have a Stag 3G. Great rifle right out of the box. The only changes I have made are exactly what Moto said changed the muzzle brake because the factory one worked to well. Other than that mine is just like it came out of the box. 300-500 yard steel have been no problem in matches when I did my part. Handles like a dream on the close fast stuff. It has also been very reliable the only issue I have had was with a Surefire 60 round mag and hornady steel match ammo ( not the rifles fault found out the SF mags and steel cased ammo don't get along very well) Not sure what else you could ask for in a rifle!

My first AR was a Colt LE6920, but it may be out of your price range. Fine rifle.

Building several right now, del-ton, dpms .223, dpms .308, and an omega. Not all mine, but love toying with them. Was a Marine for 8 years.

Thing to keep in mind is there's no such thing as AN AR, only YOUR AR. Start with exactly what you plan on using it for, then run with it. You've also got to keep in mind that some brands don't work with off brand aftermarket parts. Rock River Arms for instance, requires 90% RRA parts. Customization is limited.

All of it is a simple google search away. Feel free to pm if you've got questions. Hope this helped.

The best way to explain the stag 3G is that it's the best bang for the buck out there in a complete purpose built 3 gun rifle. Can you spend more and get more? Yes. Is it better to start with a stag 3g or from scratch if you want to swap the stock or the trigger or handguard? That's math you gotta do yourself.

If you're just getting started and don't know if you want any different parts buy the Stag 3G then swap out stuff as you learn more about the game and the platform when you find other parts that trip your trigger.

I am wanting something at home on the range and on the field. Truth fully the only thing on the 3g model I am not thrilled about is the stainless barrel but I am sure that would cerakote or duracote easy enough.

Okay, I called Stag yesterday asking about a 3G model and was told that the only way they could place an order for me is if it came from a dealer or FFL. I then spent about 4 hours calling various dealers around the area and even after telling them I know it is going to be a 12 week lead time and that I spoke with the Stag Sales department and they will accept an order NOT ONE would touch it. And a certain large dealer on I-40 in OKC would not even answer the phone. Does anyone know of a Dealer/FFL in the OKC/Lawton area that can help me?

Well since Stag is saying they are about 2 years backlogged I have decided to just build one from the ground up. Here is what I have so far.
Surplus arms and ammo lower with a complete Palmetto State Armory parts kit.

Now for the parts list I am looking at:
18 in stainless .223 wylde barrel from Rockriver w/ low profile gas block and barrel nut
Assembled upper and charging handle from SOTA arms
Magpul ubr stock
Samson or Troy front end from make ready proshop

That is what I have so far. Feel free to comment and/or make suggestions

Looks good to me. I found the UBR to be too heavy for my liking, but a lot of people use them and love them. If you would rather buy the parts for upper I'd gladly help put it together. The upper is easier than the lower I feel.

I would add a good trigger in the "need" section. I love my JP's but there are some other good ones out there. Also a comp. they are all pretty effective with the SJC and rolling thunder at the top of the popularity list. I like hearing stuff after I shoot and my fillings prefer I shoot the rolling thunder. :)
