Draw?

Alright, what kind of draw do you like for CCW? I thought I'd prefer to have it on my 3 o'clock or 4 o'clock since that's my strong side. After doing some practice I've found it kind of awkward to lift up my shirt and draw from my right. I tried sticking it on my 10-11 o'clock to try the cross draw and find it a lot easier to life my shirt and draw.

Anyone else use the cross draw, or do you prefer the strong side?

strong side 8 o'clock for me nothing else is comfy to carry and I carry a whole lot more than I draw

Appendix carry (1-2 O'clock) is where it's at. It's less awkward to just reach down than it is to reach around behind your hip, which is probably why you do better with crossdraw.

Just make sure you do your dry-fire practice and have your trigger discipline squared away so that you don't shoot your balls off.

Immediate thoughts...

I would appendix carry but my gut gets in the way making it extremely uncomfortable

Same for me. Seams to be the most comfortable in that position. Plus I'm afraid I might flash it if it's on my backside and not know it. Wouldn't want to get in trouble...

I let my good looks detour crime.

Appendix is easiest to defend from and access during a struggle. Jus sayin........
TheBearcat speaketh the truth

So what you Guys are saying is I should actually put the dvd in and do the exercises? that way I loose the gut for appendix carry and look better to deter crime? and can easily defend my carry... but that means I have to get off my ass and do something.... I am not sure how I feel about that and I think It might effect my status as a keyboard commando eliteist... If your over 15 a gut is a requirement Im pretty sure I seen that some where

The reason TheBearCat made his statement is because his statement is true.
Most concealed are carried where its comfortable, not where its tactically correct.

The gun belongs where the owner can access it quickly and put it in to play.

I'm guilty as most. Mine is dropped in my pocket with a desantis holster and a spare mag. Not the best, but in the summer, in shorts I don't have an option. Well, yes I do, i could wear some cover garment, etc, but most of my summers are spent in a speedo.
I'm going to make a statement here that some may not agree with, but any gun carried is better than no gun, no matter where its stored.

I actually agree with him as you are strongest on your center-line (a Martial arts experience with "in fighting" will show this very quickly ), the easiest attack/ takeaway to defend is the one you can see coming, And it makes it to where you have to defend a smaller area... that being said Currently I carry a Full Size gun as its my only option and I would not be able to bend or sit while carrying, My options are Lose the gut (which is probably good for me anyway), or get a smaller gun(Budget constraints prevent this)

You have to read almost everything I post with some sarcasm, I'm full of the stuff.

Mine was just a post to help, not criticize. I hope this is ok.
Every person has to make the decision to carry where they can be tactically correct for their personal stature.

Werd.

Not to mention seated/belted in a car. Self-loathing - adjective; state of being which occurs at the moment you need your gun and realize that it's pinned between your hip and seat belt buckle.

To wit: Since the average American spends about 4 years in his automobile over the course of his lifetime, some practice unbelting/drawing/doing other ATAS stuff in the car is probably training time well spent. Other opinions may differ, though.

It's also more discreet to draw from the appendix, usually, when discretion is necessary.

I'm sure this is going to draw fire, but I refuse to use seat belts.
Yep, I've been fined, but watching two guys burn to death, while burning my self to get them out of a vehicle while they were trying to unbuckle themselves, screaming for their momma's has burned that image into my mind. they would be alive after that incident had seat belts not been used.
That being said, use your personal judgement to do what you consider necessary to make yourself safe and legal in this world.

So for you guys that strong side carry, do you use your strong arm to lift your shirt then draw? Our are you using some yoga voodoo to lift with the weak hand then draw with strong?

strong side at about 2:45 to 3:00. Seat belt is not an issue in this position as long as you make sure to get your shirt out of the way when belting up. I wear cargo shorts, jeans, and t shirts all the time. I carry a Glock 19 in a Milt Sparks SS2. I use my weak hand to lift the shirt. I can't imagine doing anything else.
