So Im going to skip shooting this weekend so i can prepare for the okc 3-gun match this month and then turn around and shoot the multigun match at ussa the following day. Then i will go to ft smith and shoot the one that weekend. The question is am i jumping in to 3-gun too fast? I know there is alot to learn, but i cant learn it unless i do it. Hopefully ill be good on gear, i dont know? anybody that has experience with 3-gun please answer maybe tell me about your first matches. thanks guys.

My fist match was awesome I could not wait til the next, if I would have had all my gear and enough ammo I would have shoot every match I could find. Even now if I had more $$ I still would, lord knows I need the practice.

thats +1 on shooting all the matches. thanks for the response, i should be ok this time on gear (a tube on the shotgun will help). and if rules allow it, i will wear a baseball glove to load the shotgun so i can keep all my fingers in tact. are you going to any of the matches i mentioned ?

I am going to the okcgc 3 gun match. If you need any gear let me know. I will help any way I can

the OKC 3 gun is a great match with a bunch of cool guys, you will enjoy it, I wish I could make it over there more often. I've never been to Ft. Smith I hear its a good match also

I think that shooting back to back matches is a great way to start! I know after my first match of every kind I couldn't wait for the next match. I shoot tons of events every weeekend and spend all week thinking about the next weekend. lol...

Hunter, if you find that you need any gear don't hesitate to say so. You'll find that the shooting community will help out in any way possible.

This is the reason i enjoy this sport so much is because of the people willing to help out everybody with everything. If we could only get that motive and message out to the public, this sport could grow and be as popular as some of the bigger national sports. dont get me wrong, i love baseball, but watching a 3-gun match or any of the national matches is way more entertaining. So thats +3 on shooting all the matches possible!

Hunter you will be good to go. Shooting 3 in a row maybe the it way to wear down that 3 gun biner your ginna be wearing after the first one anyway.

I'll be at each of these matches. You can squad with me and I'll help you out all I can. If u need any guns or gear let me know and ill bring extras.

oh and is there a round count for ft smith?

I always bring 150 rounds for all 3 guns and at least 10 but up to 20 of slugs and buckshot. OKCGC is the only match that you will likely encounter buckshot. If you don't have good low recoil buck or slugs several of us bought cases of it recently do we can sell it to everyone in need.

hunter the best way is to just do it (which you are) i know people that spend so much time "easing into shooting" and won't do matches that if they had just jumped in and started shooting matches they would be way a head of where they are now... there is no substitute for shooting a 3gun match...

although word of warning, your bank account will become a lot smaller after starting 3gun!!

Well i talked to the company i worked for and they gave me 1k to start up in 3-gun as long as i put there logo on a shirt when i shoot, since they use to sponsor andretti and fittipaldi in indy and founded CART. ill put it on a boomershooter jersey whenever i order one. But after the optic, mount, one shell caddy, trigger for the pistol. im using my paycheck to buy equipment(not much there). my gear i have is pistol-im good on that. shotgun-2 pack shell holder, 8 round side saddle. 2-four round carriers, 1-six round carrier. rifle-1-mag pouch (maybe). The only think i can think of that i really need is something to carry the guns in. if there is anything else you guys think i should have, please let me know. also what yardage should i sight my scope in at?

Will they give me 1000 to put a logo on my jersey too? Just ask for me please - tell them that I am the AK guy

Ditch the side saddle and 2 pack and get more caddies, 4 round or 6 round, and start practicing loading. Back pocket makes an excellent rifle mag pouch. I like 200 yard zero, some use 100 yard and some use 300 yard.

i would ditch the side saddle and 2 pack, but while im practicing my reloads i grab the slugs/ buckshot from those since my body hasnt trained itself to go to different places for different ammo. i know that the slugs are on the gun and grab from there and i know everything else is upfront. as soon as i grab my els and "permanent" setup in february i will get more carriers and practice slug change over.

sorry i cant get you 1000, it took alot to get it including spending 5mil of there money and opening up 5 high producing gas wells (lol). But im hoping to bring the owner and his sons out sometime to a match so they can get involved. id be happy to introduce, but its just like this sport, you have to spend five times your own time and money to receive 1/5th of return from any sponsors.

It is always zeroed at 300. It also is zeroed at 28ish.

For the stuff inside 25 yards which is about 80%+ of the shots it doesn't matter if you have a 109, 247, 361, or whatever zero as its all gonna be in the A zone on paper.
