That is true, but he did shoot him. It just seems that it could conceivably be a lot easier to make their case in this instance. Just look at how many ridiculous lawsuits are won in the good old USSA nowadays.

I saw his lawyers say they would protect him from civil suits as well.

I am most pleased with the not guilty verdict.
I don't agree with anybody who only seeks racially motivated revenge.
The people calling for civil or Civil Rights charges are only doing it for their own bigoted racial or political purposes.
The case was brought on in the first place because of politically motivated pressure from Washington during a presidential campaign.
Zimmerman was initially investigated and released because there was not a case against him.
True, Martin brought a concrete walkway to a gunfight, but it was his own decision.
I suffer fools every day, but I don't start fights with them or try to pound their heads into the concrete. And if I do such a thing I know I risk losing.
Also, the sitting president of the United States of America himself interfered with the case and prejudiced the case against Zimmerman with his comments that Mr. Martin would look like his own son if Obama had fathered a son. That was not only un-presidential it shows his skill as a lawyer. Mr. Obama should be shamed of himself and owes the citizens of the United States an apology. At the very least he owes me an apology.
I heard many people ask "Why did Zimmerman get out of his car?"
I didn't hear anyone ask "Why did Martin run over to attack Zimmerman?"
Martin could have just gone on home. That's what I would have done. I'm sure that's what Barack Obama's son would have done.
I know Zimmerman will have a difficult life ahead of him, but If he is prudent he will leave Florida and look for a new life in some place like Montana.
There are people out there who have openly threatened to murder him. Not kill him in self defense if he tries to kill them, but to hunt him down and murder him.
However, what we need to take away from all this is that since many of us are concealed carry holders and proponents. We must know the laws of our state, we must know our rights and we must contemplate the possibility that we could be the victim of a racially motivated attack, or a strong armed robbery, a rape, or even a misunderstanding. Any of the above could put any of us in a similar situation.
Even in the presence of organization of protests funded by the Department of Justice and political party pressure to ignore the law. It is this law of the land we put our faith in and our hope for our own freedom if we should find ourselves in a similar situation.
So far, the law seems to still apply.

What I took away from all of this is that even in the 21st Century we, The People, still need to be concerned about a totalitarian government attempting to strip us of specifically enumerated Civil Rights when we have done nothing wrong.

If so, EVERY shooting that has happened, EVER by members of another race should be examined. That is such BS. I read the case for "unconscious racism" led to the profiling of Martin could be made but not active racism (ie No Klan ties etc) WTF? So Zimmerman killed Martin because he was black unconsciously? Not because he was in fear for his life? I'm so sick of Holder.

In short, that is the claim the NAACP, and others, are making. They are seeking a DOJ charge under 18 USC 242.
One hopes the DOJ investigation is as meticulous as it was for F&F, Benghazi, IRS, etc.

Zimmerman should have a Title 18 case because of the way the police and prosecutor said he committed no crime yet he was arrested and charged with MURDER anyways.
