Your 3 Gun Kit, Then and Now

First 3 gun match was 1993
I used a pair of Vaqueros 45LC 7 1/2" with Stag Grips , Winchester 94 Trapper with large loop (just like John Wayne) and 18" Coach shotgun

Then July 2010 16" carbine with an Eotech,870 shotty, Colt Gold Cup

Now 18" WOA , Leupold VX-R , Beretta Extrema 24" 10rd mag , Gen 2 Glock 34 ext. mags

Then and why change now? Ruger #1 .458 Lott with accu-wedge installed by a certified gunsmith, Stevens single shot breakover 20 gauge with a 12" barrel (BLUED FINISH), and an FP-45 Liberator in coyote (with a Timney trigger and DP magwell. As far as gear I carry this on my belt View attachment 4082

Nope he was wrong about the "nutters" as well. The shooting and the convention were two separate events. Shooters are shooters anywhere you go and usually not "nutters" your involuntary pelvic thrusting aside. At night we would sometimes go to the sands to the convention to watch the show, but the convention folks seldom came out to the range.

I would happily put on a S.O.F. retro match, but you guys wouldn't like the scoring, nor the equipment rule, and I bet I would only get a handful of folks. Remember the past is a different country, they do things quite differently there.
Damn I would LOVE a retro SOF match!!!

Yeah it must have been before the accident where you bumped your head and forgot witch hand your supposed to shoot with.

I tried the three stooges method of smacking my head again to get that straightened out. Even after repeated strikes to the cranium
the best I could manage was left handed pistol shooting and right handed long gun shooting. Oh well….I could a been a contender!

My 1st big 3 Gun was SOF in 1998 and my gear then was:

Eagle Arms AR-15 16" with an ACOG TA01NSN
Benelli M1
STI 2011 .40

Current gear:

Accurate Armory AR-15 18" with Swarovski Z6i
Benelli M2
6" STI 2011 9mm

+2 on the local SOF
since it is a sore subject...no SCORES is okay with me.
That would mean it's just for fun.
Fun trumps Scores, Yes?

Sounds like a solid kit as its still the same stuff just newer versions. Let that be a lesson to you kids.

My first 3 gun was a NRA Tactical Police Competition (TPC) that was held in conjunction with the 2009 National Police Shooting Championship in Albuquerque, NM. I shot in the Tactical Division because I had a optic on my 16" Colt duty rifle. The Tactical Division allowed for a semi auto shotgun, but all I had brought with me was my duty 14" 870 for the shotgun match of the NPSC. It only held 4+1, so I did lots of reloading (not well either!). They provided us with 4 round shell caddies and I had to watch a few shooters use them to see how to set them up on my belt! I shot my G17 since that's what I brought for the Service Semi Auto division of the NPSC. You have to use a L2 or better retention holster for TPC matches so I used a Serpa. I think I finished 24 out of 40.
I shot a few more TPC matches over the next year. I swapped to the Patrol Division after the first match. Patrol requires irons and a pump shotgun. I built a wonderful 870 and used a iron sighted Bushmaster 16". Same G17 and holster. At the December 2010 TPC in Shreveport I won the State subdivision of Patrol and placed 6th in the overall Patrol division. If I remember correctly Ting Sun won it. I had started shooting USPSA so I had a CR Speed belt with a few CCW shell caddies. That ended up being my last TPC match because I had some friends invite me to shoot some club 3 gun matches and I became hooked.
The 2011 ProAm was my first major 3 gun and I shot in the Pro division (I replaced a friend who had to drop out last minute and the guys I was riding with were all shooting Pro) Totally got my ass kicked but had a ball. I think I was 131/181 in TO. I was using a borrowed DPMS 3G1 and a FN SLP. I had sold the G17 and got a G34 by then. I ended up buying the 3G1 and FN from the guy I borrowed it from and used them through the end of the 2012 season.
My new rifle is a JP upper receiver, BGC, scope mount, and compensator with a Nordic 18" barrel and a 15" Seekins handguard. My old DPMS lower with an AR Gold trigger, Ace stock, JP Captured spring, and Ergo grip. Topped off with a Bushnell Elite Tactical 1-6.5 with the #2 reticle in 2nd focal plane (with a Switchview).
Accurate Iron is currently building my Benelli M2 (21" with 12+1). In the meantime, I'm still running my SLP. It runs like a clock as long as I only feed it Winchester AA Super Handicap, Winchester Ranger slugs, and Federal 00 buck (NOT Flite Control).
I still use the G34 for 3 gun and USPSA Production. Got Arredondo extensions on a few magazines. Blade Tech holsters on a DSG Arms competition belt. Blade Tech TMMS attachments on ALL of my holsters, mag holders, and shell caddies.

Strange that when I wrote the above post it was separated into different paragraphs, but when I posted it, it all ran together.

-Mossberg 590A1 pump with XS sights (home defense shotgun)
-2 California Comp shell caddies

-3-Gun stroller
-CR Speed belt......not flippable, but more functional
-LAPoliceGear pants with knee pad inside for kneeling stages
-New Balance shoes for 3-gun only with aggressive soles
-Jersey

It's alarming how much your load out and perspective change. I've gone from factory ammo to now reloading for almost everything,......I now have a Texas Star, spinner, and plate rack along with lots of knockdown steel and paper targets....doing it with casual intentions on my first match, to studying stage descriptions 2 weeks before a big match.

I find the SOF ruleset discussion kinda funny, as my first match was run under sort of the same rules. The MD was an RO at the SOF matches.

Anyways;

First match: September (I think), 2011.
Rifle: Stag Lower with Magpul BAD Lever and MIAD Grip. BCM 16 Carbine Upper with a Magpul AFG (Damn did I love Costa's beard...)
Handgun: Bone stock Glock 19.
Shotgun: Remington 870 Wingmaster. No Extension.

Now:
Rifle: Same lower and upper. Now the Lower has a Fat Ergo Grip, ACE FX Stock, and Geisslle SD-3G Trigger (The Bad is still there, because I have to have something Tacticool on it. The Upper now has a 20 inch Sabre Defence barrel with a Miculek Comp and a Nordic 15.5 inch Handguard.
Handgun: Akai Customs 2011 in 9mm with extra stank on top.
Shotgun: Mossberg 930. NC +6 Extension. 22 inch BBL. Hi-Viz. Opened Loading Port. Ect.
