What is first tyro? How short were your britches? Anybody got any pics from those days? Did the A Team shoot any of those early SOF matches?

then
Glock 17 Serpa holster spare mag in front pocket
M&P 15T with BUIS spare mag in back pocket
Borrowed M2 & shell caddies
Leather belt with buckle in back to make room for caddies in front

Now
Glock 17 Bladetech holster
AR15 18” double fluted barrel, titan comp, LMOS, Trijicon 1x4, gold trigger
M2
CR & Double alpha belts

I use a 16" LOKI that I pieced together with 3 different group buys (yay BoomerShooter!).
At first I borrowed an M2 from Brandt9913(or whatever his screen name is)
Glock 34 with my Triple crown DOH holster.

Still use the same AR and pistol, but now I have my own 24" M2 that Mr. Cywrus was kind enough to mod for me.

Plus various accessories from Tony at Make Ready Pro Shop, MME shell caddies, CR Versa pouchs, etc.

As to the original question about the pump shotty, I would say most people have those because they are inexpensive compared to most semi auto models.

I bought a Remington 870 Express Magnum (before they made the Super Magnum) when I turned 18. It was the best bang for the buck to hunt and skeet shoot with. I've submerged it in water/mud combo at least 3 times while duck hunting that I can recall and it still keeps a pumping.

It's also probably what they learned to shoot with. I learned to handle a 12ga with my dad's Ithica 37 featherlight.

At TDSA a couple years ago, we were doing some timed shooting. Eric Fuson ran the timer for me, and at the "Shooter Ready?" command/question, I yelled "Prepare for Glory!". No one knew what I was talking about.

I ran my nova on a couple of the same stages as my M2 this weekend. I actually shot the nova smoother than the M2 cause of that pumping rhythm I tend to uncontrollably do with my hips as I work the action. But the nova or the pumper malfed or short stroked twice. Which is why my semi auto stays next to the bed at night and the pump is in the safe.

First set:

April 2007
Kimber Tactical Custom II
Benelli M4S90 bone stock
LAR Grizzly/Model 1 flat top w/ flip up sight (because I am all cool and elephant dung)

All of this was displayed on my SO duty rig holster and mag pouches.

Now
Glock 34 slide done by Glockworx and frame butchered by me.
Benelli m4 w/11 round tube (building the M1 right now) and the super ninja Benelli skeletonized stock
Black Rain Ord receiver/ FN 18" 1/7 hammer forged barrel w Miller hammerhead and Sightron SIII 1-7 scope.

Nope he was wrong about the "nutters" as well. The shooting and the convention were two separate events. Shooters are shooters anywhere you go and usually not "nutters" your involuntary pelvic thrusting aside. At night we would sometimes go to the sands to the convention to watch the show, but the convention folks seldom came out to the range.

I would happily put on a S.O.F. retro match, but you guys wouldn't like the scoring, nor the equipment rule, and I bet I would only get a handful of folks. Remember the past is a different country, they do things quite differently there.

As long as it didn't have a "retro" dress code as well

Bonus Jeopardy question: recognize these socks?
