You guys watching the news?

I'm, personally, ecstatic about this but am a bit apprehensive about the consequences that will undoubtedly follow.

I'm a little pissed that we are hearing about it from the news stations. As much as I'm not an Obama fan, I'd rather hear it from him.

Good job guys and gals. God bless our troops.

Who's left? Khadaffi......

I'm sure that there are plenty of bad guys left to take his place... We, the US, need to make the cost of terrorism so expensive and horrible that these people don't want to take this kind of action against us anymore.

One rat gone only to be replaced by others. Meanwhile here, freedoms have been infringed in the name of "security". Who won?

Did anyone else think the scenes from in front of the White House, etc. with the crowds of people yelling and screaming was a little strange? I am as glad as anyone that the scumbag is gone but that whole scene seemed weird. Maybe it was just me.

Had it been just at the whitehouse, I would have said it was orchestrated for the tv cameras. But, it was happening everywere. There were thousands in Times Square in NYC.

First they "found" Obama's birth certificate and now this? Something to me says if it sounds to good to be true then it probably isn't.

I wasn't really insinuating that it was orchestrated. I meant it just seemed weird to me that the crowds of people were yelling, screaming, celebrating (basically rioting). It was like a bunch of people waiting in line to see Elvis or something. I guess I thought it seemed kind of class-less.

A coach told me one time, even if you win the biggest game of the year, act like you've been there before, have some class

I was kinda thinking the same thing. I've thought he's been dead for quite some time now. I think we might be seeing what happened to the treasures from Al Capone's vault next.

Maybe Obama will find Jimmy Hoffa right before the election.

Really? Are you an American? American Military personnel stationed all over the world were jumping with joy about this news, I lost my best-friend because of this war and I have lost a few other close friends and I myself almost lost my life in this war and now I am gimpy so I think your comment is in poor taste.

I am. I apologize if I offended you. That was not my intent. I thank you for your service, truly.

My comment was only about the almost drunken acting youth in front of the White House.

I think a bunch of people in the country were acting like fools from this news it gives people hope that there is a light at the end of the tunnel, my cousin was in mcdonalds drive-thru when the news came out and he said you would have thought they all won the lottery. Even today I still seeing people standing taller with more pride for the country and the military, people who have started losing support for the men and women fighting for this country have a restored hope in them. That is how powerful this news has been to the average person in the country and I truly understand the point you were making which is your right but it just pissed me off since my before mentioned best-friends birthday is next month and one of my other friends b-day is this month and I just saw red because of your comment.

Understood, and I sincerely apologize and I will pray for your friend's families

I'm a combat veteran from the early 70's.
Fortunately I came back in one piece.
Your service is noted and appreciated Brother!
I'm happy to say that the Ponca City Rifle and Gun Club puts on, and sponsors qualification shoots for the Army Reserve. Its sad that the Military only allows the Reserve, that is not deployed, or in training to only qualify with a hundred round or so to "be combat ready".
We have stages for pistol, rim fire rifle, AR-15, and finally, each soldier gets to shoot a Barrett .50 Sniper rifle.
They get 2 days of shooting, not just at targets, but at hostage situations.
This whole weekend is sponsored, and paid for by one benefactor, and his wife. Their son just got back from Afghanistan. The club provides all food, targets, and the Okla department of wildlife brings out their shotgun trailer, to provide free clay targets, guns, ammo, and throwers for the soldiers to shoot.

Its amazing how the shooting community can help train this country's military when the government can't.

Early in this thread, there was a comment about how strange it was that people were dancing in the street around the White House. I didn't understand it either, as it was happening around midnight in DC within an hour of the Presidents announcement of the killing of the terrorist.

My comment was that it was orchestrated.
Now, some of the news media, are also saying the same thing.

Later on it was spontaneous, but the initial jubilation complete with flags, and signs seems to be in question.

Also the timing in the Trump Apprentice show was in question. (I thought it was perfect political timing) I don't like him but it was funny that they did it then.

I believe that there were some instances where is was just staged fluff but I can tell you if I was in front of the White House and someone from the .gov came out all they would have to do is tell me OBL was dead and the acting like a jackass would just happen without instruction. To be honest the second I heard the news from a Army buddy I hung up the phone when and sat in the garage lit a cigarette and shed a tear for my fallen friends and enjoyed some memories about my friends and then the acting like a fool started. The bottom line is that the war on terror has been hard on the American people and has been hard on the men and women who defend this country so many were and will be affected by the actions of a mad man and when the news of his death swept across the nation there was a huge release of so many emotions all at once, so the reactions of the people had no other choice but to be unpredictable.
