I see a lot of companies offering extra long (longer than rifle length) HGs. Is that extra few inches on the end actually serve a purpose? or is it just aesthetics and added weight?

to continue DR. JJ's comment: the less effort it takes to start and stop your rifle, to see an exaggerated example, try swinging a 6 foot 2x4 with your hands close together then with them wide apart, which provided you with more support and less effort to move the 2x4???

Okay. That all makes sense. But that is a firing stance to which I'll have to get accustomed. I wish I was raised with a shooting instructor. I have so many bad habits that can be difficult to erase.

You and me both, brother.

not nearly as ATAS as slumped over/elbows in/support hand grasping the magwell

 I don't even know how I got so ATAS. I mean so what if I wear TAD gear, multicam, Raven Concealment holsters, 5.11 pants, and my rifles are magpul'd out in FDE. I mean really. Is that all it takes?

Just knowing those two names means you ARE ATAS! 5.11 pants are so yesterday, you need the Tactical Non Tactical pants, found in the new catalog, to really be in!

I sure hope they are worth it. I have a 15" handguard with a 1" nose cone to go on that 17" barrel you ordered all of us!

The other benefit of the longer FF tube is that it is almost impossible to ever touch your barrel against a suppoirt or wall and suffer the I don't know why I'm
Missing when the sight r on and I'm only deflectimg the barrel .25".
