I got burned by a Walther PK380. They fixed it but it wasn't even an actual recall they just waited until I contacted them after the safety failed. Ever since then I always give new models a good year on the market before I buy one. I've been itching for one of those XDS 9s but I am glad I have been able to wait on buying one. Being broke has helped too.

That's more generous than me. I give it 2-3 years.

I don't want to be the Testing and Evaluation team or Quality Assurance for a company that isn't paying me.

Agreed plus ammo costs to get it to run right.
Seriously by now these companies should be running thousands and thousands of rounds through multiple scenarios and conditions before shipping out handguns that one day you might have to depend on it to save ur but or someone elses.

Anything mechanical can break but the QC and break in period should be entirely up to the manufacture.
Just my two worthless cents.
